    FAI Cup

Probably a bit late to be throwing this up now. Before the game I was optimistic, we had come off the back of 2 excellent results and had a chance of continuing our momentum.
Brought back down to reality a bit tonight, and we don't even have the excuse of saying it was an under strength team. The effort of some of the players was just beyond poor.

Overall I'm not too bothered being out of everything when we're not even half way through the season, especially after the transfer business done. Finish mid table in the league and it has to be looked at as another successful season.

Crowd was awful again. I think the club could have organised something with the season ticket holders. Just include the game in the package and try get another 100 or so in. Adding another €1000 to gate receipts for one game isn't going to make or break us and might have drummed up a bit more support for the next one.

The club are not allowed to include cup games in season tickets if that is what you mean.

On the game itself an awful performance I don't think anybody comes out of it with any credit terrible on the ball the defending was poor. The 2nd goal was a complete joke we have a free kick in a good area and instead of delivering it we try some nonsense lose the ball then Nzuzi runs after the ball while someone was already there leaving the Bohs lad clean through.. Except maybe two no-one on the bench today is good enough for Loi and you can add another that started the game lazy and spends most of the game hiding or pulling out of headers/tackles.

Would have been nice to get a cup run but I will still consider anywhere from 7th up a good season. Need a few signings though to keep any interest for the rest of the season and there is more than one or two id gladly see go.

Surely they could just give the season ticket holders a complimentary ticket though? It's not going to cost them anything major like, and you'd be surprised if they brought another person with them and split the price of other persons ticket between. Used to see it a lot in Jackman when people got comps.

If it's the same person I'm thinking of, I agree. He would struggle as a junior player. Just not good enough.
At least Garbhan Coughlan has a bit of quality that given space and time, he might actually do something productive but this guy does nothing. Really struggling to see what he brings to the team. Suppose football is a game of opinions, and Taylor must be seeing something for him to continue playing.

They probably could find a way around it but that is what I was told is that it was FAI rules that they couldnt have the game included in season ticket.

The fact you say Coughlan makes me think it is the same person anyway. Our bench today was so weak when Tracy went off that was it really for midfield we had nothing to bring on and that is no a go at Ross Mann he just isn't a central midfielder for me.

No comps for Cup games, the gate is split shur.

I assume ye are on a wind up with Garbhan Coughlan. Nothin against the youngfella but Bohs isnt exactly the game for him.

Disgusted beyond belief with that today. Lads fixating on Darragh Rainsford (why arent we allowed say his name??) need to cast their gaze a lot further and wider.

Shockin performance from everyone last night. Poor crowd but when you win only 2 home games all season what can you expect. I was so dissapointed with the defence as that has been generally very good for us. Midfield offered nothing but that shows the loss of Prince & Hughes up more. They are the only 2 players we have that actually move the ball forward and do not always look to pass backwards. Can't understand why Taylor picks Rainsford over Ross Mann. Expect lowest crowd of the season next Friday night.

yee bang on about rainsford he is a young lad that gets a start every now and then his confidence is down and is thrown into a team that was really poor last night also he is probably on 100e a week if that.. what about the super signing tam??? offers nothing his sprint when danny Galbraith got fouled was his best movement of the game..

Tam tries Rainsford does not thats the difference. No problem with a player not being that good I do have a major problem with a poor player not even trying the most effort you see from Rainsford all game is when he is trying to get out of a tackle or header. Its 100 quid too much if he is on that.

Tam isn't that great but he has had some positive impact this season with goals against Athlone and Drogheda last time Rainsford had any positive on a game was probably UCD last season. I'll say no more about him for now but id hope he is gone in July with a few others.

Yesterday was further evidence that, while Taylor may be a very good coach, he is no tactician.

There was absolutely no need to switch from the 4-1-3-2 to the 4-3-3 when Tracy came off injured. We passed the ball quite well in the first 25 minutes, with the midfield diamond ensuring that there was always an option, and Gaffney's lay-offs bearing fruit given that he had both a strike partner (McManus) and a number 10 (Galbraith) in and around him.

Now Taylor might say that he switched because we looked weak on the flanks and vulnerable to crosses (which we absolutely were), but it's not as if that improved after the change of shape as the wide forwards in the 4-3-3 were positioned high and narrow.

I know that we didn't have any midfielders on the bench, but why not switch Nzuzi into the holding role and bring Whitehead on a left back on 25 minutes? We could have maintained our shape and avoided the disjointed mess that inevitably ensues when Taylor indulges in his unnecessary tinkering.

And another thing - why wait until injury time to remove your holding midfielder (at the time, it was Nzuzi) and bring on a second striker (Hanlon)? Pointless.

Poor old Rainsford might be out of his depth, but so is this manager in my view.

this game was really hard viewing, had high hopes after beating Drogs easily but hopes are meant to be dashed so they say and this performance certainly did that.Bohs worthy winners, had far more hunger, well organised and took their goals well.mcmanus would be better used off the bench imo not a 90min player, but as it was we had problems all over the field....speaking of which Taylors assertion our early season poor form had a contributing factor in the pitch made for an interesting listen on local radio with ....with those soccer correspondents in full amateur flow as usual.

Limerick are just dire in this competition. Of the last ten iterations, they've only beaten four non-league teams (Glenville 2013, Sacred Heart 2011, Tolka Rovers 2010, Douglas Hall 2007) and three league teams (Bray 2011, Wexford 2007, Drogheda 2006). Just never seems to come together.

So will taylor make it to the end of the season? If no players come in during the window we can take it hes gone. Feel with us out of the cup, mid table fluffing around at best, before us. This will be the last few months of kelly, oji, danny and gaffney

If Taylor gets a mid-table finish (not unlikely at the moment), I don't see why the management will get rid of him. That had to be their expectation, given the budget. If they want to be challenging for Europe, or the FAI Cup or the league, seriously, they'd probably need someone else, but there's a certain patience in the clubs admin. The Bruff plans, Market's Field etc, all probably to be finished before you see a more serious injection of capital into the playing budget. I don't think that's a bad thing, though I'll fully admit you could probably find someone of Taylor's equal or better right now for the same money. Limerick are back in the top tier a season and a half. 7th is a good return.

I don't really see any reason to sack him mid season. We've nothing to play for, the crowds are already gone and from experience, it'll take a new season with new players to bring them back. Just leave things as they are and get to the end of the season before we reevaluate. The board had to have been expecting something like this after the reduced budget and the amount of players that left.

Awful display worst of the season by far ,all the talk was during the week how great a cup run would be it was like somebody told them get knocked out of it as soon as possible lack of desire was shocking , does taylor see something in rainsford or is it down to the lack of a squad why he got a start he has never shown anything to justify it , if a few players are missing the squad is so bare we struggle badly , mc manus does not offer much either probably a better impact sub , could be only 200 or so there Friday night I'd say

Bird what are you on about?you are way off here, obviously i have touched a nerve regarding a comment i have made but i am none of the above apart from being bitter now and then, and at almost six foot i would hate to see your version of tall.everyone on here is behind a keyboard ,the fact you have tried detective work on a username, unsuccessfully i might add,is a poor reflection.this forum is all about opinions ,maybe you should stick to them and improve your posts you have Limerick down twice.
