Drogheda United manager Paul Doolin is on the brink of completing the signing of Finnish midfield player Sami Ristila, according to morning reports.
Doolin is keen to bolster his squad for next season after watching his side falter from championship contenders to outsiders for even an Intertoto Cup place in little over a month.
The Drogs have won just one of their last seven Premier Division games, and are currently fourth in the table, four points adrift of third-placed Bohemians.
Doolin’s quest to add to his squad during the winter took him on a scouting mission to Finland recently, and he has initiated discussions with FC Haka midfielder Ristila.
The Drogheda boss told the Irish Sun: “I was very impressed by him. We have had him over with us and we are now looking to sign him. I would think the Finnish league is something like our own and he also had a spell in Holland so he has a good pedigree.”

well this a interesting, a new forum, should we be as 'open' with our info here as we were on the old one.
Its good to see Drogheda getting their act together after so many years.
I can see them being a force in the future. It helps that Drogheda is one of the fastest expanding towns in the state so their potential audience is increasing quite rapidly every year.
Well thats the plan anyway. Hopefully some of the newbies in and around the town will start going to the games, but at the moment I can't see it happening unless we get the new stadium that has been promised so much.

Just after realising that this guy has three International caps, must be pretty good so, but at 30 years of age lets hope hes not just hear to pick up a pretty penny before he retires.
