Wow! What a finish. Ice cool penalty from Samaras, although the keeper did get close.
Greece lead!
Boo

And the goal made me miss my bus home.
Boooooooooo!
I'm still stunned by Suarez. I don't know if I can handle another round of "I'm not defending him but" when he gets 20 matches this time.

And that's why bbc showed Greece!
Suarez hasn't a leg to stand on. Did anyone see the BBC footage of the interview with Chiellini? He was pretty frank in his condemnation of Suarez but it's harsh to blame the ref and FIFA - so far at least. The refs can't be expected to see that. And the first 5 times I saw it on TV I thought it was a stupid attempt at a head butt. But the video - not to mention forensic - evidence is totally conclusive. I doubt we'll see Suarez again for a while. Still, he did his job![]()
Suarez statement saying that he did nothing wrong makes it even worse. I know it wont happen but Id love to see him thrown out of football, hes a horrible character
Its really not that complicated!!!
Anyway, I'll miss Prandelli. I loved his fascination with changing formations and I loved his Euro 2012 team
And what about that Japanese chick that the cameras focused on on 64 minutes? OMG. Only the Brazil girl from 1982 beats that. Remember, blonde crying when they lost to Italy?
In fairness, the real photo evidence looks fairly compelling.
Anyway, was there any controversy over the Greece penalty? Thescore.ie is showing a clip that makes it look controversial but I think that if it started two seconds earlier it'd show the Ivorian just clipping him - rather than Samaras making the contact himself - so it looks to me to be a sure penno. The Ivorian stuck his leg just where Samaras was putting his.
Chiellini was certainly very forthright. It was rather politicised and unlike any platitude-laden interview you'd get on Sky Sports. Critical of FIFA, I enjoyed it. I don't think Lineker had expected it.
I can't see FIFA letting Suarez the "sneak" off the hook though in the face of such indisputable evidence.

There is something seriously wrong with this man. The punishment has to be very severe. Eric Cantona severe.

Course, the Suarez nibble is detracting from Marchisio's red card, which really didn't help Italy, especially when they were chasing an equaliser. Right in front of the ref; not the absolute worst of challenges, but certainly looked like he stuck his boot into an Uruguayan knee and twisted it in too. Not sure what he was thinking.
No controversy over that red card either, in my opinion.
And it wasn't even as if it was prompted by some act of antagonism. Just like the Ivanovic bite, the only thing the defender did wrong was to actually win a fair contest. In fact, did the ball even come as far as Chiellini?
It was pure frustration-induced rage. Fascinating stuff. No harm either as long as FIFA takes strong action.
A bit of harm. He should have been sent off, which presumably would have altered the entire game, though I suppose the officials were not in the best positions to see his (incredibly) violent conduct.

Was just reading this article: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc....4e5tA7tT.dpuf
FIFA's disciplinary code sets a maximum ban of 24 matches or two years, but the longest ban in World Cup history was eight games for Italy's Mauro Tassotti for breaking Spain's Luis Enrique's nose in 1994 with an elbow. Zinedine Zidane was given a three-match ban for headbutting Marco Materazzi in the 2006 final.

No controversy at all, that clip is edited to leave out the angle that clearly shows the defender step across Samaras as he swings his leg to shoot and it clearly makes him fall.
I don't think it's an issue of not caring, I just don't think he can control it.
There's an article here where a psychologist speculates that Suarez would bite again within five years of the Ivanovic incident. Turns out his range was four years too wide.
