SO NEXT SEASON THE SHED WILL BE CLOSED FOR OUR CHAMPIONS LEAUGE (UEFA CUP) GAMES.

So with reduced capacity and demand sure to outstrip supply are we looking at paying high ticket prices for our european games.

I was just thinking that myself today.

if we qualify for Champ league or UEFA cup a few seasons in a row and have to play in front of an empty Shed people won't be long forgetting about "the good old days in the shed" and will be calling for it to be pulled down.

It would be a nice problem to have though.
    I'm what? I'm ants at a picnic?

its a shame we cant keep the shed but we've got to make progress if we're going to make it big in europe i suppose. i just hope the new stand isnt going to be too filled with corporate types.

The shed is a kip. Its not steep enough. The supporting iron obstructs the view of the match.

Im talking about the Shed as a structure. The Shed as a place for creating atmospere is good.

Yes, but not for you. It goes to the club that are playing at home. eg City at at home to Bohs, someone lights a flare, City get fined €500. Thats how it works. I'm almost sure of that.

its a fine for the club. but one wonders whether its ever applied- look at waterford, their fans light smokebombs on the pitchside at every game, thats meant to be a fine- I don't believe they'd allow it if they were shelling out €500 per game. also seen flares at shels and pats and never heard mention of the fines being applied there. of course city probably would get fined knowing our luck. i think its better to keep them for away games, to avoid getting the club in trouble and causing hassle.

I dont think luck has anything to do with it
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

After the game in Tolka, I called a steward over and asked him
    1. If $hels ever got fined for people going on to the pitch?
    - He said no, never for eL/FAI cup games, they only have to worry about European games.
    2. I asked him about the flares
    - He said that as far as he knew, there was no problem with them either, as he didn't know of any time that $hels were fined for them. Again, they only had to worry about Euro games.

Now I know he was just an ordinary steward, (as in not in a position of authority within the club), but just what are the rules, and more importantly, are they actually ever applied?

Maybe the y may not be properly applied across the board, but is it not better to be safe than sorry?

Flares smoke bombs etc can be dangerous, but surely if the club/safety officer and flare guys discussed it, and agreed only certain people could use them, there shouldnt be a problem.

The flares/smoke bomb fines are rarely if ever applied as far as I know, which is why clubs more often than not turn a blind eye to them being used. Look at the continent, you'll see teams useing plenty of flares each game and nothing is ever said despite the fact it's supposed to be illegal.

Back to the point - we probably would have got money from the government towards it if Rovers hadn't made €3,000,000 disappear!
Tw@ts, ruining it for everyone! And now they've got their own money to finish their ground in junkie central.

As far as the shed goes, a couple of seasons ago their were drawings on the side of the programme selling hut, then they disappeared

BTW - roof the St. Anne's first, accomodate the vocal support - not the prawn sandwich eaters!

Who lights the flares at the Shels matches?

Must be Oily himself as ther'es never anyone else at the games............or maybe it's Ahern the "life-long" supporter!
