For posterity, it would be good if someone could record that sight (flares in the shed) on good a quality digital video camera.
What is the tory with the shed? Are there drawings of the new structure anywhere so we can inspect? Has anybody in the forum seen the new plans? Will the existing structure form part of the new finished product?

The logical thing to do is to put the roof on the st annes end first.I presume most people in the shed will head down there so it will have to act as a temporary shed.I hope the new shed will run the width of the pitch aswell because the stand in tolka looks ridiculous

Yeah the plans I saw for it were a full-length shed. Think there were going to be corporate boxes too!

Good. Maybe the cucumber sandwiches set will get out of the Donie Forde stand now and let in a few more people who can sing and cheer!!

i'll be taking lots of pics of the shed's last match for shedend.com (where else), and when work starts on the new one i'll be posting its progress. interviews with builders and such

so yeah, flares and a few foghorns would be a nice bit of nostalgia... the smell of the waccy tobaccy wafting around would seal it

I think the priority for the club is to get a new training ground.

no. the shed will be there next season too. The plans were delayed 2 years, with this season being one of them. Unfortunately there doesnt seem to be any plans for a roof on st annes BEFORE the shed end is redeveloped. This is a disgrace as st annes shoule become the new home end as it will have a much bigger capacity than the new shed which will be infested by corporate boxes and the likes ruining any chance of a coersive home support there. There are plans for the st annes to be extended and roofed but when this will happen your guess is as good as mine...

Slightly off the point, i remember when dolo was at the healm at Pats they had a section on the official website outling plans for ground development, and progress made. It would be nice if the same thing happened on ours. The difference is, with our club and our supporters there is a good chance these plans would come to fruition.

I think I read Lennox saying that the money spent on getting the A licence meant there wasn't money to do the Shed end for a while.

I'm not sure they even have planning permission for it.

Surely any ground development wouldn't be complete without an Echo exclusive on the Curragh Road residents complaining about their views being obscured by the "huge" new stand

Agree completely that roofing the St Annes end should be the priority anyway.

not sure about financing of ground developments.

The MFA probably aren't bothered about putting seats in the Shed End as they've a lovely little ground as it is and it's City who need the seats for Euro games.

I think you have to raise 10% of the funding before the Dept of Sport give you the balance.

I think some grant aid might be on hold while the Sports Council fights with the FAI re Genesis etc

I believe that lotto money was to be awarded based on work necessary for european games, but that pr*ck from Kerry was too busy opening rowing clubs etc. and the money hasn't been handed over yet. For this reason, the lotto money should be distributed by the sports council of Ireland (like it is for arts grants). When was the last time a polititian was seen at the opening of a piece of modern art or a sculpture. It's all just about the photos and the votes with them.

It would be great to see details of proposed developments on a website, but the reality is that it would be a wasted effort as the mfa could potentially pull the plug on any project before it would even start if they wanted to.
