Myself, theCorner and A face got into the bar alright. We knew Ollie Byrne would have his henchmen trying to stop us so we went down 5 minutes before half time and went in the secret door that the lads found last season!

Obviously, I was having my pint and didn't see or hear about the booing but I wouldn't have a problem with it tbh. They may have been only kids but they were representing Shelbourne.

A few months ago, there were many threads about the booing of Rangers players at Landsdown. Some of the people who were outraged at this, have defended/dismissed the booing of children at Tolka. A little consistency please?

I don't see the connection there to be honest.
The booing of Rangers players had nothing to do with the Irish team and had no place in Landsdowne, it was also sectarian and venomous.
As I said I didn't witness the booing on Friday but by the sounds of it it was very light hearted and there was no malice intented, they were wearing the jerseys of our biggest rivals so a bit of banter was bound to arise.

The booing of children has nothing to do with Byrne, Nuttsy or the other creeps at $hels.
I'd be the first to have a go any all the negative things about $hels, but I completely fail to see what those children had to do with any of that.
If $hels, or any other, fans had booed children out the Cross, quite a lot of people here would have been up in arms over it.

patsh, a couple of people (myself included) booed when the kids in the shels jerseys got the ball and started chanting "de boez" we were laughing as we did. it was a joke. it wasn't even loud enough for the kids to hear. it was harmless messing

    OK, last comment on this.
Eanna, at the end of the first half, i walked down the few steps to go over to the toilet. Just as I got to the end of the steps, I heard quite a lot of booing. There were a hell of a lot more than a "couple" of people involved.
Whether it was only having a laugh or not, all that could be heard was a large group of Cork fans booing children. You, in particular, would be the first to condemn this if it happened at the Cross, and rightly so.

I don't have a big problem with booing the kids to be honest but I do agree that some of the more moralistic people (not just Eanna in fairness) would be up in arms over a lot less!!

I think everyone would want to chill out over a lot of things to be honest. Any time a City fan says or does the slightest thing there is always someone who's offended or outraged or incensed or something.

    lads,
if you only knew how serious the little guys take their football you would'nt even dream of booing them,i just hope that they did'nt hear it.

slag me off/tell me to get a life if you want but i think that there is nothing remotely funny about it.

Lads, this thread is just becoming silly.

Some people booed kids, others didnt. Some took issue, others thought it was a laugh, others pay no attention.

Im going to lock this thread after consulting another mod. If anyone has a problem with it, dop me a pm, and I may re-open it.

    Fair?
