Rooney and McGinn score for Aberdeen to knock out Groningen.
Best season coefficient-wise (I know, I know) since 2008/09. Not to be sniffed at really.
Unlucky Dundalk. TBF to the LOI just dont have much quality in the league, apart from Dundalk. Sligo always look laboured anytime I watch them, Derry had no defence and St Pats had celtic on the mind. Ah well at least the coefficients have improved

Strange season in Europe. 7 wins and 2 draws. 2 points to the co-efficient but all teams out before 3rd qualifying round. Compared to last year a definite improvement but it could have been so much more maybe. Hard not to feel a bit disappointed. What would be the view of others?
Aye, three were signaled on the board. The ref didn't blow up early. There was a bit of a delay before the corner was taken, but not sure what the fuss was all about, to be honest. Fair play to Dundalk getting an away victory in Split, but a bad night all round really, unfortunately.
I fully expected one of Pats, Sligo or Derry to get through after the 1st legs and somehow Dundalk came the closest. Some wonderful away preformances, but absolutely appalling defending and wastefulness up front from nearly all sides has cost them. We should probably be aiming to get about the 2 point mark co efficient wise every year and to get 1 team into the 3rd round of something. We can't expect much more than that, but some of the performances this season has showed that our teams are very capable when they want to be.
Reason to be optimistic, but I'm pretty disappointed with how things panned out.
Great to win away against a team like Hajduk. The missed chances last week came back to haunt us though.
Important now to get the focus back in the league on Sunday.
Fantastic result and performance from Dundalk. Some campaign for LOI clubs away from home.
On another note, surely losing 6-1 on agg to a Belarusian team is worst than losing 6-1 to the a Polish champions
Breath just back now!
Really proud of that display by our team.
Now lads- go and WIN the fecking league-yee,the club and the supporters deserve something for the great effort put in over the last 2 years.(ohhh, and thoise other cup comps yee are still involved in )
Breath out...........
Cumann Peile Dún Dealgan - Champions 2015 (too many accolades to be typing)
Termonbarry Athletic TID!
Brilliant result. Pity they didn't progress. I really hope we can hold this squad together.
Another way of looking at it. L Warsaw played like a team needing a win. Pats couldn't handle them, got destroyed 5.0 on the night.
Sligo probably took their foot off the gas when 3.1 up on agg, Rosenburg punished them.
Derry got back to 1.1 agg so the belarussians destroyed them 6.1.
Split went 3.0 up on agg so took it handy and dundalk almost punished them.
LOI still nowhere near good enough over 2 legs unfortunately
A very proud Dundalk fan tonight....away to listen to Kate Winslet "what if" for the rest of the night now
Only another 9 titles till Drogheda become pride of county louth!!!
Although I'm disappointed we didn't get through tonight, I find our European campaign this season very encouraging. We played 4 games and won 3 of them. Plenty to be positive about, we just need to build on it next season. That goes for all the LoI teams this year.
So Motherwell out. Those Icelandic boys know how to finish off the job
Was talking to a Polish lad after the game lastnight he was telling me that a friend of his plays for Legia under 21s and is paid 8k a month with resources like that it is massively impressive for Pats to get any kind of result at all really.
Nah, definitely a step backward this year. Haven't seen so many old-school capitulations like that since the late 80s/early 90s.

A step backwards.. Really? Do you remember the results and performances from last year at all? **Mod Snip- No Need for that.**
This season has been a big improvement, but shows how far our teams still need to go if they ever hope to consistently be competitive against the bigger teams in round 2/3.

Well, let me put it more clearly, I don't think it represents any sort of halt to the slide we've witnessed over the past five or six years. Some lucky draws first time out don't change that. I don't know how old you are, but conceding sudden gluts of goals in threes, fours and fives used to be standard for LOI clubs in Europe. I thought we'd left those days behind.
PS: **Mod Snip- No Need for that either.**
