    Cobh (EA Sports)

Closely contested game but deservedly shaded by the Youths in Ferrycarrig tonight as they posed more of a goal threat in the better second half. Wexford started with a completely new XI compared to the game in Cobh with Danny Niekis in goal, a back four of Ricky Fox, Andy Wall, CJ Browne and Ryan Delaney, a midfield five of Shane Nolan, Jason McHugh, Ben Ryan, Danny Fitz and Skelly, and with Daryl Power up front. First half was pretty even with both goalkeepers having to make a save apiece with their legs. First effort on target was by Jason McHugh after eight but it was comfortably saved by Hallahan in the Cobh goal. Both sides were finding it hard to create chances and after half an hour, Danny Niekis made a good save with his legs after a Cobh cross was allowed travel a long way into the Wexford penalty area. With seven to go, the lively Skelly had a effort on target but it was pushed by Hallahan over the Cobh bar. Then, right on the whistle, Jason set up Danny Fitz for a run-in on goal from the left, but Hallahan saved with his legs for 0-0 at half-time.

Second half was more open and Wexford posed more of a threat. After five minutes, however, Danny Fitz limped off and was replaced by Danny Furlong. While Danny was waiting to come on, Ryan Delaney made a great run down the left and found Skelly in space inside the Cobh box. Skelly's first-time finish gave Hallahan no chance for 1-0. Both sides then had a yellow apiece and Martin Deady came on for Cobh. With 25 gone, a mistake in the Cobh defence allowed Danny to set up Daryl, but he pulled his effort wide. On 73 minutes, Spillane came on for O'Donnell for Cobh. Ben Ryan then got a harsh yellow, and with two minutes to go of the 90, Danny just couldn't get on the end of a nod back from beyond the far post by Ben. Daragh came on for Skelly right on the 90 minutes. In the third minute of injury time, Cobh then tested Danny Niekis again but Danny did well to deflect a close-in flick onto the post and away for a final score of 1-0 to the Youths.

Best for Wexford were Ryan Delaney, Skelly and Ricky Fox while CJ let nothing get past him despite limping for most of the second half. Goldsmith and, when he came on, Deady were best for Cobh but they will be disappointed at how little they tested a debutant Wexford keeper on the night. 1-0 at fulltime with about 140 at the match.
