Kidnappers in Iraq have released a seven-year-old boy whom they had threatened to behead tomorrow if a ransom was not paid.
The boy, Mohhamed Hamad, is the son of a Lebanese man who has been living in Iraq for 30 years. It is unclear if any money was handed over to secure his release.

The youngster was abducted while on his way home from school east of Baghdad last Friday.

Iraqi criminals frequently abduct the relatives of wealthy businessmen and demand ransoms for their release.

The demands are usually met because Iraqis have little faith in the police due to the poor security situation in the country.
