After last week’s defeat at the hands of leaders Finn Harps, third-placed Bray Wanderers will attempt to maintain their stranglehold on the final promotion place when they take on Galway United at the Carlisle Grounds tonight (Friday, 7.45pm).

The Finn Park defeat, Bray’s first in eight games, allowed fourth-placed Kildare County to entertain thoughts of stealing into the third and final promo place.

But with just four games remaining, the Thoroughbreds remain four points adrift, and will require the Seagulls to slip up twice if they are to overhaul Pat Devlin’s side.

Bray will be without Eddie Gormley through suspension after the veteran midfielder was dismissed against Harps, while Graham O’Hanlon and Robbie McGuinness both sit this out through injury.

The participation of Kevin Grogan, Wesley Charles and Colm Tresson is also in doubt, so Kildare will hope Galway can capitalize.

The Tribesmen have little but pride left to play for after seeing their own promotion hopes founder, but they defeated the Seagulls on a 3-1 scoreline at Terryland Park back in July and will aim to repeat the trick here.

Galway boss Tony Mannion could opt to give some first-team exposure to the younger members of his squad, with Padraig Lee, Luke Byrne, Nicky Curran and Gary Fitzgerald all in contention for a place in the 16 this evening.
