I don't know about that. He looked fairly average in the First Division (in average teams to be fair). I've watched him playing junior several times too, he's a handy player for sure but I wouldn't be convinced he could make the jump to Premier and he's not young enough any more to be judged on potential.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

The underage teams and Baby Blues should be paying for themselves. Those players should be paying membership fees, which should be enough to cover all running costs. If any team has a slight shortfall, that would be covered by a jersey sponsorship deal for a couple of hundred euro, which would probably leave a small surplus to invest in training equipment or the odd unforseen cost.
So they should not be placing the club under any financial burden.
The only possible burden there might be on the club from all these teams is the possible lack of people of sufficient calibre willing to get involved to help organise and run everything properly. Like every other underage club, they rely on voluntary input from the parents.

On the young local players that are in the squad, the club has a huge problem. The step up from Under 19 to Premier Division is huge, and this can be a real confidence-shaker for the young players. First Division is a big step up for them, but Premier Division is really throwing them in at the deep end. The issue has been more obvious since the transition from an Under 21 national league to Under 19. Without any national reserve league, and with the club not having teams at intermediate or junior level, there is no straightforward path for young players to develop into solid senior squad members.
A lot of the young players in the squad at the moment are obviously not good enough to be considered as solid first choices for their respective positions at the moment. But they all have a lot of potential, and may grow into those positions given a combination of time, good guidance and a little bit of luck.
But confidence plays a huge part in a young player's development, and some of them are definitely lacking in confidence at the moment. That's probably down to a number of factors, including general self-confidence, fear of the opposition and coping with the weight of expectation.

The playing budget seems to have been cut this season, so with the major injury problems the team has been more reliant than it was last year on the younger squad members. This situation is not likely to change in the immediate future. Leahy is not quite fit yet (but may start appearing on the bench soon) and Galbraith is a little further off a return. Then there's Curran, who pulled up before half time against Athlone. Also, Prince and Tam are deemed not to be quite full-90-minutes fit at the moment, and Oji appears to be playing through a niggly but persistent minor injury since he has returned.
    Fight the good fight!

I'd have to agree. I find having an under 19 league to be a bit strange when there isn't any other side to develop with bar the senior team, It's a massive jump up and can destroy confidence. Not having a reserve team or even a Munster Senior league side must surely be a hindrance in developing talent?

We plan on entering a team in the Connacht senior league I have been told.

When Mervue and Salthill were being pushed out of the league they were basically told that a new CSL would be established for them to play in. No sign of it yet though, it's almost as though the FAI were telling lies (again). If it doesn't happen they'll blame it on a lack of interest but they're not trying very hard to get it off the ground.
