Meant to mention that Browne got his second goal of the season a few weeks ago to clinch victory against Huddersfield

I know he's only 20 years old but Jeff Hendrick was 20 years old too once upon a time. Now he's 24 and if Derby don't get promoted this season I don't think he's done enough for clubs to renew their interest in him.
We are a good, honest bunch of lads but sometimes I can't help but wish young Irish footballers were a bit more ruthless about seeking moves up the leagues.
Who said he had options up the leagues?
There have been reports of interest from Crystal Palace, Swansea etc since last summer. The less they have to pay to release him from his contract, the more attractive a proposition he would and the more likely they would be to follow up on their interest.
Though it's only till 2019.
It's not as restrictive as the contract the soon-to-be 28 year old Coleman has committed himself too.
So we know that while he was looking to negotiate a new contract at his current club, rumours conveniently surfaced that clubs at a higher level were interested. As tends to happen every time any players is looking for a new contract.
Goal from Alan Browne for PNE against Brum. Fired home from a cross. So both him and Cunningham scored for the same team in the same game.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Browne's call up was discussed briefly on Off The Ball last night. He was on trial at Hull while Kevin Kilbane was getting started as a coach, and he wanted them to sign the youngster after an impressive showing in training. Ringmahon wanted five thousand for him, but Hull didn't have that budget for a youth player, so he went to Cork City instead, and from there to Preston
Signed a new three year deal at Preston: https://www.pnefc.net/news/2017/july...-end-contract/
Didn't realise he's only 22
Which, in fairness, is very young for a centre midfielder. Aside from McCarthy, we haven't had many young centre midfielders make an impression on our team, particularly those more defensive or holding focused like Browne can play. Hendrick is more of an attacking midfielder (an 8 perhaps) I think.
He has a lot of appearances racked up already but lots of time on his side. A good indication of his potential was that he didn't look out of his depth when he came on against Arsenal in the FA cup. Fingers crossed he pushes on.
Browne scored from the centre-circle for Preston tonight against Cardiff.

Great strike. The game ended 3-0 to Preston with Seáni Maguire recording Preston's second of the game, which was also his second league goal for Preston.
Can anyone who watches Preston play post a bit about his style of play/position? Is he a box-to-box guy, a creater, a guy who sits in front of the back four -- or is more of No. 10 -- for whatever reason he's totally off my radar but as mentioned in that other thread for an Irish player who is 22 and has essentially been a starter for three straight season (this is his fourth) he seems to not get much love around here until this wonder goal....
He normally plays as one of a two in front of the defense, breaking up balls and keeping things moving, but has played further forward more recently.
Most PNE fans see him as more of a destroyer than a creator.
Neil probably likes him because of his engine.
He's of a similar type to McCarthy, albeit not as talented.
And that's the issue with McCarthy. For their comparable talents, Browne may yet go on to have a very good career in the PL. Maybe not in the top half but it doesn't look like McCarthy, at present, will be in the top half much longer if he doesn't turn it around at Everton.
PNE fans reckon Browne really improved under Grayson and it looks as though he's not stopping his development under Neil as he seems to be playing more regularly at present than he did last season, from what I can tell.
I fear for McCarthy TBH. I think he has already reached his peak at this level.
It's hard to see him getting much ball before January at the least.
I think because he's young and he's Irish and he's featured quite frequently in the Championship and League One from a young age, that maybe we (or I) haven't been fully in tune with the level of performances or ability shown by Browne.
Anyway, it looks like over the past 8 weeks he has been immense and playing at a level many PNE fans didn't expect of him: http://www.pne-online.net/forum/show...-Browne/page24
I'll be honest, I didn't realise he's only 22.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!
