    Bray Away 9/5/14

This will be a tough outing. Bray have looked decent enough, especially at home, since the draw in Thomond Park, picking up home wins against Sligo, Drogheda and Dundalk.

With suspensions and injuries i'd happily take the draw now. In saying that we really need a win with the top 3 coming the week after all within 7 days.

    Suspensions:

    Barry Ryan
    Robbie Williams
    Rory Gaffney
    Robert Maloney (Bray)

    Ref: Graham Kelly

    Predicition: 1-1

In many ways it'll be a tougher game for us. We're fine when we can sacrifice possession and try to nick one from a set piece, but Bray will be a different type of game altogether. We'll have to try to break them down and we'll have to do so without Gaffney who has been our only real danger man so far this year.
I'll go for a 0-0, but I think we should really be trying to get all 3 points here.

If we play as well as last week we should be ok and could win it. Would probably need Curran back to replace the suspended Gaffney.....don't know if he is fit though. Might be a chance to see Ali in goal. Can drop Shane back to left back or maybe start Nzuzi to deal with some of Bray's pace. Would like to see a bit more of Mann and McManus as well.

Good to are Galbraith starting. Decent enough starting team to be honest with Leahy on the bench. Going by twitter and extra time we have had the vast majority of chances with Tracys set pieces causing problems.

The day one of Limerick's few strikers apparently quits the club, the team makes loads of opportunities and can't get the ball in the net.

Limerick lose 1-0. Now second last, with several difficult games coming. I said I'd give it one round of games till I started questioning Taylor's position. That's the 11th, and I think its time to consider other options. That, and the club needs to clarify some financial issues.

Can't see us getting anything from the next 3games to be honest. Serious decisions to be made in the next few weeks to secure our future in the premier league.

By the sounds of updates of the game we created a lot more tonight than we have in any game so far this season. I'll wait for someone that was at it to give a round up but it certainly sounded harsh to lose that match tonight.

Curran despite all the rumours going around today about him being gone has still backed the manager saying "ya have a top manager mate trust me on that one of the best ive played for"

    From lads that were there

Far from the dominant display of total football that the clubs match report would suggest, apart from ten minutes at the start of the second half, that was largely a bucket of ****. Two shots on target and a couple of other half chances (stephen folan missed a really good chance with a header from a set piece). The worse the rain got the worse the game got Brays cloggers wanted it more. Tam McManus played the ninety but appears to have graduated from the Rory Gaffney school for needless offsides with first class honours. Sam Oji and Prince are still well worth watching.

Those updates and reports by the club are laughable at times from games I have been at and then read back on.

You meant to tell me that it's more than just pure bad luck that we're not top of the league?

I know they have to be bias, but they are far too exaggerated. It's hard to see us picking up points over the next couple of weeks. Such a wave of negativity around at the minute, it can cripple clubs with fans staying away.

Another poor result away.i think its time to look for a new manager, stuart taylor seems to think that the table isnt a true reflection of how good the team is and is accurate.he always talks about progression but i'm afraid its regression this season.just saw that craig curran has gone,he wasnt a great striker but he always gave 100% to the team.not looking good for the remainder of the season i'm afraid.

Next two weeks will tell a lot about the rest of the season , I hope I'm wrong but can't see us getting anything from next three games far superior teams to us and three teams who try and play football. Don't blame Taylor one bit lost too many decent players and expected to work with up and coming players who either have no experience at that level or simply are not good enough.

Losing to Bray isn't as bad as it seems when you see how well they are doing in the league and especially at home but the most annoying part is the dishonesty about the performance. Just call it as it is.

Compare the club's live twitter feed to extratime.ie's live updates. I just did and they seem very similar to me. The extratime.ie updates were done by either a Bray fan or a neutral.
As one of the 8-10 Limerick fans who was actually at the match, I am obviously very disappointed with the result. But the performance wasn't bad. We just have the same problem we've always had: we're crap at scoring goals. But unlike in many games, we actually created a good few genuine chances.
We dominated the match from the 5th to the 60th minute (I can't comment on the first few minutes as I was late). It was only after this that Bray began to create a few more dangerous openings. For the goal, I thought our defending was a bit complacent and we should have had the ball cleared before the shot went in. Bray sub struck his shot well. After they scored, Bray kept players high up the pitch for a while, putting pressure on our defenders and choking our play a bit. It took us a few minutes to find a way through this and work the ball up the other end of the pitch.

I think the negativity is a bit exaggerated. It's depressing to lose when you were in control of the game for most of it. While we weren't exactly playing "total football", I'd say we had the majority of possession and we definitely had a lot more chances than Bray. We didn't pass the ball around quite as fluidly as we did at times last week, but I'd say the pitch wasn't quite as good as Tallaght Stadium (although it wasn't bad -- better than Thomond Park anyway) and it's smaller.
    Fight the good fight!

    How many chances??

Tam missed a sitter, folan missed a good chance, the tracy lob we didnt create... Im kinda struggling a small bit now... I genuinely dont remember the Bray keeper being worked more than two or three times.

If a team is dominating and its 0-0 theyre playing at a high tempo creating lots of chances and having lots of shots.

If a team is dominating to the extent the clubs various feeds would have you believe they win ten nil.

Did we have more of the ball than Bray?? Of course we did because 1. When Bray get the ball they seem fairly content most of the time to lash it at Scully.and/or Akinade and try and nick set pieces and 2. Bray were only too happy to let us have the ball because apart from brief spells when we come to life our "domination" is ponderous, insipid, possesion football of the most tedious kind.

Prince does something clever, the player infront of him doesnt react quickly enough, Prince wins the ball back, passes to Oji, passes to Folan, passes to Oji, passes to Tracy, passes to Folan, leaves Oji a little short but Oji gets there to touch it back to Folan, who plays the channel, where 8/10 it breaks down cos seven of our players are in our own half.

Rinse and repeat for 90 minutes.

As I said on the club Facebook page last nigjt (before the comment was deleted ) the only way that would have been stopped as a boxing match would have been if there was a riot in the crowd due to both fighters refusing to land punches.

The thing about the other manager saying we deserved it is cripplingly embarassing and I say that as someone who has a lot more time for Taylor than a lot of the lads I know.

As a Bray fans point of view, I honestly don't know limerick are 2nd bottom... Some very good players and a manager who is trying to play a nice brand of football, you're easily better than at least 3/4 sides we've played this year.

In relation to Friday's game, it was sloppy with no real quality apart from the odd flash by either side. Limerick were the better side in the first half but never really created anything decent from open play but looked very dangerous from set pieces, I was quite happy to go in 0-0 at half time being honest.

The 2nd half started off more even with both sides trying to have ago with out ever really Threatening, as the half wore on I felt bray got on top and looked a lot more dangerous, Akainade and Scullyl Really should have scored when we'll placed. Our goal came at a good time and we really should scored a second in injury time when Akinades missed when clean through.

Overall Limerick probably shouldn't have lost the game BT they had absolutely nothing up front on the night

I'd agree with Roo on this, a draw was probably a fair result but I'd doubt Mathews said limerick deserved to win. Prince looked a top drawer player, was a joy to watch at times. Delighted with the win but can't see limerick being in trouble come seasons end

It would be a rare thing if we actually played good football against you all season it has been more absolutely pointless passing between midfield and defence before a hoof. We really have had the worst of both worlds with style of play this year.

Can't comment on how the rest of your season has gone, only on what i saw on Friday. If you had a half decent striker things would be different. You got into a few decent positions but the finishing was extremely poor. Can't remember McGuinness having to make a save of real note being honest, Cusack was the same though, we were wasteful ourselves, it wasn't a great game and a draw would have been more than fair.
