    Derry City V Cork City

This is now the most important game of the season. Derry is always a tricky place to get a result. In the past we always tended to look at getting a point as a good result. But this time around a point may not be good enough as it would mean shelbourne would need to loose another game aswell as loosing to us. This would be a tall order as there are few games left and alot of the teams have nothing to play for in the leauge so they might be easy targets where we have the Drogs to play twice who will be fighting for a Uefa/intertoto place.

Our next two games are the most important games we've played in years, and(fingers and toes crossed)we manage to win them the two games after that will the the most important games in years and so on.

City winning at the brandywell and then winning at tolka a few days later would be nothing short of a miracle most years but the run we're on now gives us every chance of doing it.

One game at time for the rebel army!

Forget about $hels, this is the only game that matters for now. Derry have beaten $hels, Bohs and Drogs over the last few weeks. They have a young side, playing for contracts for next season and a shrewd manager in Kenny.
This is a tougher game for us than $hels. I expect the team need no motivation for Tolka, but Derry on a Tuesday night is not quite the same thing.
I reckon this is where we will come unstuck. The Brandywell is not a ground that we do very well at, and I cannot see us getting more than a point....

If the players can't get motivated and play their best against Derry then they don't deserve the title.

If they draw or lose against Derry then the league will be over and what happens in Tolka won't matter a bit,so the pressure will be off and City might beat shels but it will all be in vain because we have to winevery single game imo.

If the boys don't give their all tues night it's over, but I know they will give everything they have to win it and if thats not enough to beat Derry then next year we'll be back stronger.

Derry is a game we can win..i dont care who they have beat recently because with the way City are playing we can beat anyone in this league home/away..yes Derry has always been a very tough venue for any team but we have won there before and we can again..i dont understand people say in one thread how great we are and then in another thread say we will lose up there..be confident boys..we can win Tuesday with the team we have but it will be very tough...

And as Dolans Waiscoat said earlier...ONE GAME AT THE TIME!

I didn't say that City would lose up in Derry, just that this is going to be a very, very difficult game for a must win. A lot of posters are looking ahead to Friday night, when ththe Derry could make Friday academic.

I just think we should take it one game at a time, and this one comes first and not be getting ahead of ourselves.

Patsh..of course it will be very difficult up in Derry and everyone knows that..but after winning six in a row and playing very well we have good reason to be optimistic about the game..i dont think its a case of getting ahead of ourselves because there are only a handful of games left and people are genuinely getting excited with our chances..if there were 20 games left it could be said people are getting ahead of themselves but certainly not at this stage..time to be optimistic and as you,i and others do agree one game at the time..but isnt it hard..

How often have we read this? After Shels beat City 1-nil in Turners Cross in August, it was doom and gloom, season over, etc. Now look at us.

I think if we were to get 4 points out of the next 2 games it would be a good return and we'd still have a chance. If we got 6 points I think we'd definitely win the league, but 4 points wouldn't leave us too far off. Derry will be a very difficult game, but i thin we can do it, provided we don't do our usual of defending ridiculously deep up there.

A draw or defeat wouldn't end things but would eman have to beat shel$ for title ambitions.

Derry have only scored 7 in 14 home league games all season & we've got more points away from home than they've got at home so can me optimistic. 1-0 to city would do nicely.

    1 - 0 to City would mean 3 points.

Lads, i reckon a loss to Derry wouldnt be the end of the world. City will drop points before the end of the season. A draw will be a good result and will still make the game with Shels a 6 pointer. Obviously a win would be amazing.

Does anyone know if the team are going up today and staying in Derry tonight? I think that would be the sensible option - do a light training session tomorrow morning. It's a very long trip for the players to make hours before playing Derry away from home, they could be tired and fatigued, and we obviously want to increase our chances of winning as much as possible.
I can't wait for it though, for the first time in years going up there, I see us winning!

This is our game in hand and we are 7 points behindwhen only a few games left and still have to go to shels which we all know isn't our favourite place to go when looking for points,so I think it's fair to say that if we don't beat Derry then our chances are all but over.

    Derry game

Just seen on the official site that Ian Stokes is ref for the Derry game. don't like the look of that, the man has a grudge against us and has given a few penalties against us already this season. Also, Kearney is a doubt. Wonder is that a real doubt or a dolan doubt

I know they definately flew out of Cork airport at 4pm today.
However, I'm not sure if they are flying directly or if they are flying to Dublin and bus to Derry in the morning.

If this is how we decide the likely outcome of a game then you should know that we havent been beaten at home since may 29th. We have only been beaten 3 times at home all season. We've got the best defence in the country. Bohs and Shels were both restricted to ONE shot on target. Bohs took a 14 game unbeaten run into their match against us in Dalyer and got beat.

I reckon a draw is the likely outcome. But be warned confidence is high, the quality of play is vastly improved and the team will feel more than capable of getting the 3 points.
