True, although Keogh's general club form isn't a worry at all, his ability to perform at the highest level is. The most important thing is that we remain as compact as we were for the final third of the qualifiers, and that would be the case regardless of who we have playing centre back. The best thing about the Bosnia game is that he didn't have all that much to do.

Keogh, Christie, Westwood and McGeady have all started at the iPro. McGeady very lucky to escape an early yellow card after taking Ince out. Terrible refereeing really, you just know he'll hand out softer ones later on. Westwood is very vocal with his defenders.

McGeady hauled off and Sheffield Wednesday take the lead about ten seconds later. Brilliant goal from Bannon. McGeady had been doing well though, seemed to drift more infield in the second half whereas he was out right in the first. He seemed to mumble something as he was coming off, nothing major but I'd say he was enjoying the game. He lasted 67 minutes anyway so I suppose that's progress of sorts. Westwood made two decent saves early in the second half to deny Bryson and Russell, both should have scored really though. Christie should have probably had a penalty as well when he got to the ball before the Wednesday defender.

The 4th 5th 6th places are all but sealed by now. Derby should be pleased with getting Hull in the play offs, instead of whoever will finish 3rd.

The chronically cautious OwlsFan will dispute that, and with good reason to be fair, with Cardiff visiting Hillsborough next weekend. That said, it's Wednesday's to throw away.

Edit- it finished 1-1 by the way Geysir, just in case you thought Wednesday held on.

And Cardiff score a 94th minute winner against a 10 man Bolton

Life is no bed of roses for an Owl's fan even if you're 4 points up, 2 games to go and have a better goal diff.

Yes all down to the game this weekend against Cardiff. Cardiff have been playing drivel most of the season but then you wonder about the fates: late equaliser for Derby against Wednesday and very late winner for Cardiff against bottom of the table and 10 man Bolton. I am going to the game so we'll see what kick in the teeth awaits.

Another excellent performance by Westwood, although his kicking wasn't quite up to par. McGeady continues to disappoint but I still suspect he'll be on the plane to France. Keogh did well enough and Christie - can't really recall much about him except that he was fouled for a peno which wasn't given.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Daniel McDonnell wrote in The Indo that with Shay injured (expected 10 days out) the likely beneficiary would be Forde or Henderson. no mention of Westwood. Oversight or "in the know"?

I thought he was decent enough.

Sorry, my bad. Dan McD did say this could open the door for KW.

So definitely not 'in the know' then.

No, he could still be "in the know" but just disguising it.

Jonathan Douglas improved Jeff Hendrick's chances of getting back into the Derby team by breaking George Thorne's leg yesterday. It has been confirmed as a double leg break in fact which is a huge blow for a guy who did his cruciate not so long ago, and also Derby's playoff chances. Douglas apologised via Twitter and Thorne accepted graciously. Darren Wassall wasn't too impressed with the challenge, for which Derby weren't awarded a penalty, calling it "naughty".

Keogh was terrible for the winning penalty, not once but twice. A really poor clearance in the first place which he seemed determined to make up for. Here-

He was determined to make amends, sometimes it's the thought that counts.

The tackle in the box can't have been too bad as the ref didn't give him a yellow card.

He couldn't really give a card having not given a penalty, he obviously saw nothing wrong with it. That doesn't mean he was correct though. I haven't see a video of it, just photos but any match report I have seen just described it as a 'block tackle' and haven't reported any sinister motivation. Fair play to Douglas for his apology anyway, showed a bit of class. Hendrick is gutted for 'one of his best mates', but hopefully it works to his advantage.

Okay, my mistake, I thought that was the Keogh tackle which gave away the penalty.
I suppose I got that impression with the ref pointing in the general direction of the penalty spot, Derby players objecting and the next bit of play was the penalty.

Derby's awful start to the season continued with 1-0 home defeat to Ipswich. Christie, Keogh & Pearce made up three quarters of their back four. Looks like Hendrick was wise to jump ship.

They said Christie was quite good on Sky Sports, but that the game itself lacked any real quality.

And the blackburn game was supposed to be even worse, seems like another wrong move for one of our youngsters especially after a good season on the Continent albeit at a poor team.

    At least Duffy got out.

Pearce was supposed to be good also, and was in the side due to Shackell playing very poorly at the weekend. Hopefully he can stay there for a while.
