No joke? I'm saying that's a desperate attendance on our part for what was a very big game.

904 announced for Galway/Waterford according to both clubs' Twitter accounts. Doing well with their numbers, outdoing a few PD clubs at the minute.

not bad. How were the 39 away fans? if that. prob 50+away to pats possibly 100+. Inchicore is nicer for away fans than Oriel especially with being a hour closer to Cork.

I have been a Limerick supporter since the late 70's and I will not be attending matches in Thomond Park again. It has nothing to offer from a football perspective. From day one the football crowd have been treated like Ryanair passengers, the pitch is poor, there's a complete lack of atmosphere, postponed games, no parking, the football on offer doesn't help either. The sooner we're out of there the better...
Is the parking facility at LIT not there this season? There was ample parking space there last season.

For such a supposedly important project, it's amazing that there were no artist's impressions of the finished project or no 3D rendering of the plans. This suggests to me that there was no proper architect involved in the application for planning permission.
The only positive thing is that no work has been done since planning permission was granted. I don't know if the LEDP is considering some revisions to the plans, but let's hope so.

The most important factor in growing the attendance is getting results.
People often complain that there aren't enough locals in the squad, but as other posters have pointed out, even when we had the best local players in the squad people didn't come out in their droves to follow them.
People often complain about the style of play too. But most people don't care that much about the style of play, as long as you win. Let's face it, an awful lot of people would prefer to see us knocking balls over the top for Gaffney or whoever to chase after and then shoot immediately. A lot of people don't have the patience for slow build-ups.
Then again, it's very hard to break out of a circle of negativity. Numerous runs of success in the First Division did little to bring out crowds then (not until the "big match" came along), and we went into the game against Sligo on a run of D W W D.

My conclusion is that maintaining attendance has as much to do with managing expectations as winning games. For me personally, the wins are all the sweeter for struggles you go through to achieve them.
    Fight the good fight!

Any idea why it was different from the 904 given to all the press? Strange.
I’m not pedantic...I’m merely overly concerned with minute details.

3400 and something given for the Showgies, I have to say that there looked to much more than 100 extra than our game vs UCD on good Friday, though I won't bore ye with season tickets not counted etc.

Not a great crowd in Tallaght last night I'd say 2,000 at best.
Sligo get fantastic support for a town of less than 20,000 people
