Don't think there is any specifics out yet as they said on the night the drawings they had were literally finished just before they unveiled them.
Does anyone have any detail on the bruff plans announced at the audience with Martin O'Neill?

Makes no sence to set up base an Bruff,a good bit away from city.

Between knocklesheen and the all weather at sean choil i thought they had everything covered.

[QUOTE=dutchie;1738841]Think Knocklisheen was going to cost a lot of money to develop and would never be the clubs. Sean Choill from what I have heard has deteriorated very badly and the Astro isn't great there at the moment. Haven't been there in a while though in fairness. Club is using LIT and St.Nessans now anyway.
while i,ve always had trust in our chairman i am starting to get a little concerned at the direction of some decisions being taken....this Bruff venture makes little logic to me ..a training base etc 16 miles from the city,it feels like the holiday home is being bought before the house..bottom line is we have still no home of our own and going to spain for 4 or 5 days when by all accounts funding has tightened with the squad barely improved....hmm strange days.
Yeah, no ones realistically expecting that kind of thing to happen, bar some miracle investment with no strings. All of the discussion over the Market's Field just seemed to boil down to what we should expect out of a lease/rent arrangement relative to our size and aims, I don't think anyone suggested the possibility of actually owning the ground.
As for this place, the location doesn't seem that big a deal to me. It's a reasonable commute and I imagine possible sites in Limerick are quite rare.

I think the bigger questions regarding Bruff are who's paying for it and how will the future playing facilities and refurbishment of the buildings be funded? Is there a mortgage on it for instance? Because if there is I hope the club will be able to afford it when Pat moves on.
It's probably best you reserve judgement there until you see the finished Markets Field. I wouldn't be so sure!![]()
Big statement from the club here: http://www.limerickfc.ie/superblues-new-home
The "Kirby O’Sullivan Sports, Social and Business Park" Will include space for local, non-soccer, sports teams, for businesses to rent, etc. Very ambitious plans on the soccer side, new astro-turf pitch, a stand, a museum. Big emphasis on it being Limerick's "home".

"' Build and they will come " great plans but hard to see how it can work be self sufficient it ain't exactly in a soccer stronghold and it is a big commute from the city road isn't the best and it is an hour round trip for most people
The biggest plus at the moment is that local community are really behind it and seem to be keen on having Limerick out there. The commute isn't too bad but as you say the roads are very poor out that way which is a little off putting. Could work out as good facilities for the junior teams out that side of town when you think a lot have to come in to UL for good astro pitches.
For a small town there's a good sports tradition across a number of codes in Bruff. There's also a very strong community there who will work hard to make this a success. I'd be cautiously optimistic about the whole thing.
It's not really that big a commute either, closer to twenty minutes each way than thirty and the road is grand, it's actually quite good as country roads go. In an ideal world I think a base on the edge of the city would be preferable but this is a good alternative if the club will own the base themselves.
The ball is round and has many surprises.
Saw this announcement, and from an outsider point of view it sounds good for the club. Really for a LoI club I don't see much point/great advantage in owning your own ground, apart from Bohs maybe and that is for historical reasons. However Limerick should try and get a good deal on any rent agreement they sign at the Markets Field, so that it will be possible to generate extra revenue on match days. Would Limerick get much fans from outside the city?
A good bulk of our support actually comes from the county and even Ennis/Newmarket in Clare have a few fans that make their way in. There seems to be more good will with the county junior soccer teams than the city ones too (not saying there is bad will with every city team by the way).
