    Bray (Friendly)

Reasonable effort by the Youths in the Carlisle Grounds tonight although Shane Keegan will probably feel that further improvements are required, particularly when his strongest XI is put out. The Youths started with only three of those who began against Athlone on Wednesday - Ricky, Shane, Rocks and went with Shaun O'Donnell in goal, Ricky, Stephen Last, Ryan Delaney and Shane Nolan, Danny Fitz, Nathan West, Shane Dunne, Rocks, Sean Skelly and Graham Delaney. The problem in the Athlone match of Wexford giving the ball away cheaply in their own half continued in the first twenty minutes of this match also. After five, Wexford gave the ball away to the Bray attack but Shaun got down low to block the shot. A minute later, the same happened again and then for a third time, Wexford gave the ball away when clearing a cross by Bray and it was eventually crossed back into the Youth's box where Jake Kelly volleyed home for 1-0 to the home side. Wexford weren't creating much going forward although Danny Fitz was doing well down the right wing. Their first Youth's effort on goal came after sixteen minutes when a good run by Danny Fitz resulted in a shot when laid off but it was deflected for a corner.

On 25 minutes, Shane Nolan had a run and shot from about 20 yards out which was on target, but it was comfortably saved by the Bray keeper. Bray then finished the half with two good moves, but the first effort was pushed away by O'Donnell and the second Bray effort was put over when well-placed. 1-0 to Bray at half-time. Bray made a number of substitutions in the second period and it seemed to help Wexford get into the game a bit more. After four minutes, the impressive Adam Hanlon made progress down the left but his low cross was just missed by the stretching Bray attacker. With a half-hour to go, Jason McHugh, Kilian Cantwell and Danny Furlong came on as subs for the Youths. Bray tried a training ground move from a free after 62 minutes but it was volleyed over. Danny Fitz then seemed to have a reasonable shout for a peno when taken down from behind but the ref waved it away with twenty to go. Jordan Brett and Andy Wall then came on as further Wexford subs and, in the dying minutes, Sean Skelly pulled out a good save from the Bray keeper when he took on his full back and unleashed a powerful effort to leave the score at 1-0 to the home side at full-time.

Best for Wexford were probably Shane Nolan before he came off and Rocks, while Ryan Delaney and Stephen Last looked useful in the middle of the back four and Danny Fitz was able to gain space down his wing when he got the ball at his feet. Shaun O'Donnell also looked competent for his first start for the Youths in goal. Similar problems existed as in the Athlone match with Wexford giving the ball away dangerously in their own third and players in space taking the wrong option at times. 1-0 at full-time.

What way do you think the team will line up for the first league game Forza? Especially the defence. I haven't seen any of the games so I'm in the dark

You're probably talking about Graham Doyle in goal, a back four of Craig McCabe, Stephen Last, CJ Browne and Jimmy Dermody, a midfield of Rocks Keenan, Shane Nolan, Peter Higgins and Deano Broaders, and with Daragh Walshe and Danny Furlong up front.

    Thanks.
Hasn't been many Laois LOI players over the years.
Ross King, Chris Mulhall with UCD in recent years.
Think Paul Cahillane also played a few games for UCD.
