They should have but many don't.

Oh Yeah. I seem to remember that Jimmy Bullard's 'loyalty' to his relegated club has a lot to do with the lack of a relegation clause in his contract.

According to this, Hull do have one for all 'new signings':

Bruce’s public admission that all the new signings had a relegation clause inserted into their contracts shows Hull have planned for the worst.

Of course the problem for clubs is players do not like such clauses and to get the player you
want you might have to drop it.
From a player point of view he might prefer a bit more stability, ie less money but no relegation clause.

Does not seemed to have worked very well so far!

Still two (tough) games to go though, I expect most of those down the bottom end have
similar clause and indeed probably those higher up too, as it would never likely be inacted anyway.

Lenihan, McShane, Quinn, Meyler, Brady, Manning, Grego-Cox, Murphy, Dunne, Long, Reid, Ward going down. 6 players who were getting first team football, Long was given a new contract by Burnley, Lenihan & Manning are highly rated and Grego-Cox had broken through at QPR. It's pretty disastrous from an Irish perspective.

My prediction of a Norwich v Middlesbrough Playoff final looks like coming to fruition so it looks like Hoban, Arter & possibly Hoolahan will be the only Irish players coming in to replace them in the PL, unless O'Kane wins back his place in a title winning team and Murray has a barnstorming pre-season.

Hopefully Nigel Pearson tries to sign Robbie Brady for Leicester, having worked with him before. That lad deserves to remain in the PL.

Brady's luck in that game sums up what it's been like to be an Irish supporter this year. At least himself, McShane and Quinn are coming away with some credit.

I'd expect a few of those Hull players to be offered contracts at lower Premier clubs. Brady and McShane, in my view, are almost certain to be offered some sort of Premier League deals.

In the case of a lot of the younger players, it may be much better for them that they drop a division as they'll probably get some game time in around the Championship. Lenihan, Manning, Grego-Cox and Long will probably get some game time now where they haven't really this season.

I don't think it's particularly disastrous, aside from a couple of players that'd be in around the Ireland first team who will probably move on anyway.

Disastrous?? Really? And that's not even pointing out that Hull are still not relegated. Bizarre as ever TOWK.

Replace them in the premier league? Manning? Lenihan? Murphy? Long? Reid? Grego-Cox? Good god.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

I heard on one of the podcasts that Burnley players all have clauses of 50% pay cuts upon relegation.... They could be shaping up to by this generations Charlton. The C'ship is harder to get out of now though.

Jake Livermore suspended by Hull for the rest of the season after failing a drug test, testing positive for cocaine, according to SSN. Presume Meyler is likely to start in his place.

A darker side to the Hull City underdog story, David Conn claiming the club relied on public money for its academy facility but then insisted on sole tenancy, at the expense of community sports participants, in order to comply with EPL requirements.

All four of the main Irish start for Hull today. 0-0 at moment with Newcastle winning at QPR.

Bad to worse, Spurs 1-0 up. Even a win on the final day might not be enough if they lose this.

I still think they will do it. But it could be that I just really, really, fckin really want Newcastle to go down.

Hull putting United under a lot of pressure. McShane and Quinn have already had two goals ruled out. Offside calls were completely correct, but indicative of the very positive effort Hull have been putting in so far.
