Great set piece delivery from super sub Robbie Brady leads to a Hull goal. 2-1 Villa now. Quinn, McShane and Brady on for Hull. Grealish has just come on for Villa.

Meyler, Quinn and Brady's chances of getting regular first team football have plummeted after Hull signed Diame, Ramirez and Ben Arfa.

That's a nice reward for Quinn's recent form. Livermore and Huddlestone haven't set the world alight so Meyler was unlucky enough as it was to be kept out by them. A fully fit Brady was as good as a new signing too.

A bit hard to take but hopefully Ramirez and Ben Arfa in particular won't take too long to kick up a stink again. There is a reason why Southampton and Newcastle didn't want them.

If the Irish players can't get ahead of a pair of (talented) wasters and a big game wonder then they just haven't earned it.

Only Quinn starts tonight for Hull, Meyler and Brady on the bench. Noble starts for West Ham. Hopefully Quinn will kick lumps out of him and call him a fake paddy

The good news is Brady is on, the bad news is it is at Quinn's expense.
Change was at 1-1 it is now 2-2

Brady scores to put Hull 2-1 up at WBA in League Cup. Meyler and McShane also start so Bruce must be prioritising this competition

Shame they're out, it will be harder still for the Irish players to get games unless they can establish themselves as first choice.

No Hull Irish start today, Brady and Quinn on bench. Delaney starts for Palace, Doyle on bench.

Pretty depressing really. Looking bleak for Meyler?

Meyler was injured last week so he probably was just a bit short of fitness. This Hull side are pretty average so I think Meyler, Quinn and Brady will work their way in.

Pretty hard on Brady, Quinn, Meyler and even McShane tbh.

There seems to be a lot more patience when it comes to some of the other player's form (Huddlestone, Livermore). And of course the manager's son gets his customary place on the bench - when most fans would have McShane there ahead of him.

Don't get me wrong. I'll eat my hat if the likes of Ramirez, Diame or Ben Arfa help Hull pick up as much points as Meyler and Brady did but I doubt it.

Hull's Irish contingent all have a chance of featuring against Liverpool owing to injury problems for other players. Brady will come in if Robertson isn't passed fit. McShane is in consideration (and fans choice) to replace Dawson. Huddlestone is likely to be passed fit but if he is rested, Meyler or Quinn could come in.

Dawson was a weird buy to begin with. One of those players who was hanging on at Spurs but you got the sense once they were done with him he'd end up tumbling down a division or two.

Thought he looked a decent signing to be honest. Held his own, and generally started and was even captain, at a CL chasing (and making) side for a good few years. He's easily good enough for Hull in fairness.

    Long starts for Southampton.

Saints one up after only 3 minutes.

Sounds like an absolute belter by Wanyama from 40 yards.

Long doing well according to Phil Thompson but has just missed a chance, an attempted dink over the keeper which he just didn't get enough on but the keeper and McShane made a good save, between them. No suggestion it was a bad miss.
