A crowd of less than 3,000 (and the stand didn't look quite full from what I saw on the tele) is pretty poor for a Cup semi-final, by ant standards. And, yes, I would be the first to acknowledge that attendances at our games are dire - however, the reasons for that have been well documented both here and elsewhere by now.
Ireland: Discovered!
What other semi-final in the past 5 years did the away team bring ONE bus load of supporters ? Feck sake you lot had more at the Brandywell for a standard league game than Waterford had on Friday night. I agree 3,000 is pretty poor for a semi-final, but you normally have a good squad of support from the other team too. We didnt, it was all Derry City apart from 30-35 Waterford fans.Originally Posted by manic da hoop

Derry fans at it againSee how they manage to slip in a 3,000 crowd when it has already been stated that a stand that holds 2,300 wasn't even full!! Isn't the stand the only part of the ground thats allowed to be used. You can't expect us to believe that there was near on 1,000 on the side with the tv cameras?!!! Emptiness and scaffolding were clearly visible on that side both behind the presenter (Michael Lester I think?) and when the camera behind the goal panned over that way.
We have terracing from where the players come out right over under the old seating stand. Which can cater for almost 700 standing. And for your information there was about 100 emply seats where the Waterford fans were situated....meaning the other 2,200 were full. It might not have been 3,000 but slightly less.Originally Posted by WindmillWarrior

And your support at Flancare wasnt exactly brilliant either.

Wasn't brilliant. But then again a travelling crowd of around 1,200 (no exaggeration) wasn't bad considering the game was on tv, the poxy weather and some big sh*te GAA game that was on in Drogheda that day.
The Harps Shels semi from a few years back was live on TV,Shels had little or no support, but there was 5,500 at the game. Not that we can boast about our support this year!Originally Posted by dortie

130 less about 8 Officials in Limerick FC jackets.
That includes the five (5) Limerick fans who turned up in a car after Limerick had taken the lead (35 mins or so) and left before the end.
I don't know if they were included in the gate receipts.
Although is this thread about approximating receipts or just the attendance?
There are some supporters who believe there isn't a differance.
" I'll go right up to here,
it can't possibly hurt.
All they will find is my
beer and my shirt."
What were you doing down there, Harpo?! And you couldn't even make the UCD game when we played there!Originally Posted by HarpoJoyce

Yeah not by our standards considering we brought the same amount to a league match in dalyer and to another cup match in belfield. But WW excuses are valid.
Good chaps derry supporters, keep saying 'we're the best supporters in the league', 'everyone loves us', blah blah blah. Some day you might make others believe it.
Our attendances arent great considering where we are in the league but they're in the top few without a doubt. If people were realistic on this thread and not seeing double vision like the derry supporters, this thread would have alot more credibility.
Sorry for this off topic rant lads but derry supporters and their attitude really get up my noses. Again, apologies
Considering where you are in the league LOLOriginally Posted by Daviddrog

Feck sake, when did Drogheda finish above 5th place in the premier in the last 10 years (If ever). So your fickle supporters only come out in force if your top of the league ?
And likewise Drog fans get up my nose too, who the feck are you anyway.![]()

Eh, no dortie, the opposite. Our attendances have only increased slightly now that we're doing well. They've been roughly the same as previous seasons when we were fighting for relegation (obviously a few notable exceptions).
Like lastnight if i was a derry supporter id be saying there were 7000 at the match and tell everyone else how i cheered for the other teams supporters at the end of the match, blah blah blah
again sorry for the rant - worst day of my life ever and very hungover
Trust me i dont see the point in exagerating attendances, id safely say our average gate this year is 2,000, which is pathetic for Derry standards. On cheering the other teams supporters, personally I never do it (Despise it), but there was some Derry fans who made the gesture.Originally Posted by Daviddrog

In fairness dortie waterford is the other end of the island to you and it was on a friday night. Also werent they up only a few weeks earlier the time you were losing and switched off the floodlights?!![]()
Cork Rovers was about 2,500-3,000 with 50 of us down to watch more garbage!

We took around 500/600 to Turners cross on a friday night in the semi's in 2002...Originally Posted by NY Hoop

Yeah I remember that, we haven't seen such an away support since, nor have we seen an FAI cup Semi-Final!
j'accuse!
Our cup semi final against Athlone town a few years back was great. City fans took up all one side of the pitch.Originally Posted by ccfcman
