Don't know how I missed that - especially as I didn't put it in my list of weekend games with no details! Brings Rovers up to 1343 and Cork down to 4022.

Wow! 1700000 at Cork!!! That's some exaggeration even by Cork standards!!!

I think summer soccer is answered in that one attendance really...

Looking at the Cobh/Kildare game on chorus there didn't seem to be anymore than 150 - 175 people there.

Pretty much random guesses at 1500 at Bohs-Dublin City and 2000 at Shels-Waterford. Have put them in as such until I hear any better...

Bohs V Dublin city more like 2100 or 2200 on Friday evening
Dublin City V Shamrock Rovers was around the 7/800 mark which wasn't bad considering england were on the box.

Bohs V Dublin City was nowhere near 2200. The Jodi holds 2750 or so and it was only about half full. Theres no point over-estimating the attendances so at a pure guess, I'd say around 1300.

500 at the Dublin City-Rovers game on the Rovers MB, though they do mention people in the pub as well. Have put it in as 600 to split the difference and keep the estimates conservative.

Euro 2004 seems to be having a big impact looking at Dundalk, Cork and Bohs in the last week or two...

I'd have to say that the weather was almost entirely to blame for the poor turnout at the Cross ( and the fact that too many wimps didn't want to get wet ). Bohs always draw a big crowd, normally about 5,000. There was over 5,000 season before last for a Tuesday night game.

2200 is a ridiculous estimate! I'd say we were lucky if there was much more than 1000, I haven't seen so many empty seats for a league game at Dalyer for a long while.

Let's hope it was just a temporary blip because of the Italy-Sweden game.

I think it goes to show that we should have a break in future during major international tournaments, imagine how bad the crowds would be if Ireland qualified.

2,500 at Pats v Shels today? That would be my guess anyway but someone who knows the ground better would probably have a better guess.

Thumbs down Worst Crowd of the season

i would say no Official figure but lucky to top 400.We were expecting more than 1,000 but the televised game wiped us out.

Its ridiculous that we had a two week break for the special olympics but Euro 2004 wasnt taken into account. We had applied over 2 weeks ago to change to saturday at 5.00pm so as not to clash with the quarter finals but were turned down becauser you have to apply 16 days in advance anymore if you want a date change.

Ill be keeping a good eye on what happens with other teams when they try to switch games.

Finally well done to cork ye have done us all proud pity there i sno thread about yesterdays fantastic result!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't the two week break for the Special Olympics because the ref's were referring the football side of it?

The dates for the games were known more than 2 weeks ago t, so I still think it's harsh to put all the blame on not giving the go ahead to move on the league (particularly given your regular rants about the league not following it's own rules).

btw the Thread on the Cork result is in the Cork forum.

    Waterford Utd V Derry City

Waterford United v Derry City 1000 aprox.Worst crowd of the season so far.Euro 2004 is really hitting crowds.Pineapple Stu how come Waterfords average hasn't come down as out last 3 crowds have all been well below 2000 but our average is still the same?

Waterford have dropped from 2900 to 2650 to 2529 to 2338 now. They didn't drop in the last one because they were playing away.

Seems a two-week break is needed for major tournaments in future though. Competitions usually start on a Saturday, so can have a full series on the Friday, take two weeks off and then fixtures after that again. you'd clash with maybe one game, but clubs will probably need a gate after two weeks off and you can't have too big a gap. Will the FAI bigwigs cop on though...?

Couple of back attendances for Sligo here - 700 H v. Bray (lowest of the season) and 300 A v Limerick. They had 900 in for Galway-Sligo when the official is given here as 902, so they're not that bad it seems...

Might as well do an update so...

    PREMIER DIVISION
    Bohs 2659 (2625)
    Cork 4022 (4147)
    Derry 1839 (2265)
    Drogheda 1324 (1662) (missing Shels)
    Dublin City 558 (missing Shels)
    Longford 1250 (1586) (missing Drogheda)
    Pat's 1911 (2971)
    Rovers 1325 (2038) (missing Waterford)
    Shels 2163 (2573) (missing Longford)
Waterford 2338 (2520) (missing Dublin City)

    FIRST DIVISION
Athlone 358 (missing Dundalk, Galway, Kildare, Limerick and Sligo)
Bray 1175 (missing Athlone, Kildare, Kilkenny and Limerick)
Cobh 225 (missing Bray, Kildare and Monaghan)
    Dundalk 857
    Harps 843 (missing Limerick)
    Galway 646
    Kildare 305 (missing Monaghan)
Kilkenny 110 (missing Cobh, Harps, Limerick and Monaghan)
Limerick 213 (missing Cobh, Kildare and Monaghan)
Monaghan 188 (missing Athlone, Cobh and Kildare)
    Sligo 929
    UCD 344 (783)

    PREMIER AVERAGE - 1979 (2267)
    FIRST DIVISION AVERAGE - 567

    Weekend matches missing -
    Longford-Drogheda
    Athlone-Sligo
    Bray-Kilkenny
    Harps-Limerick
    Monaghan-Cobh
    Bray-Limerick
    Kildare-Harps (last two from Monday)

So far, the Euro 2004 period has seen the lowest attendances of the season (per what we have here, for what it's worth) for:
    Bohs (v. Dublin City)
    Cork (v. Bohs)
    Derry (v. Longford)
    Waterford (v. Derry)
    Athlone (v. UCD)
    Dundalk (v. Kildare)
Harps (v. Limerick - very poor crowd, though no estimate)
    Galway (v. UCD) and
    Sligo (v. Bray).

That's nearly half the league, and it's not as if the majority of the games are against low-profile clubs which you'd expect to have relatively small gates anyway...

    Bray's games

I'd say 450 -v- Kilkenny and 300 -v- Limerick but remember I'm terrible at estimating crouds.

I'd say 1,500 -v- Kildare, cant remember Athlone at all really(but if you forced me to guess I'd say it must of been around 600... just a shot in the blue though). Hope thats a help.
