Just seen the other goals, both typical if I recall correctly
Robbie, head down and fired straight at the keeper, the shot
went through his legs I think, still a good goal and you can't
knock Irelands record scorerer can you.
Duff was a typical solo effort, nothing much seemingly on,
created a bit of space for himself and fired home an accurate
shot from 23 yards (aprox) from the right side, left peg,
Robbin was on at the time (left wing) which probably gave Duff
a bit more space than he is usually allowed.
Duff looked pleased with his effort and I enjoyed watching the
celebrtions, the English lads Terry, Lampard and Parker were amongst
the first to congratulate him (quite a lot of English in the team today).
Kilbanes goal owed a lot to his work rate, ran the length of the pitch
for it.
Everton are doing well playing 4-1-4-1 with Carsley playing between the
defense and midfield (I think), maybe this is a tactic Ireland could adopt?
They are doing really well considering they are just a pont behind big
bucks Chelsea. I wonder how many Everton players would make the Chelsea
team? (my guess is zero ).
Carsely scored a belter tonight, but then got sent off.
Keegan said he was impressed with Willo Flood (city lost 2-1 to Arsenal).

Leon Best started for Southampton tonight, but was substituted at half time and completely upstaged by a lad called Blackstock who got a second half hat-trick and dug his team out of trouble singlehandedly.
Just seen Carsley's goal, beautifully struck free kick from the edge of the area to the left of the D, curled it into the top corner. Magic stuff. Didn't know he could take free kicks like that!

Carsley's free kick was a gem, not the sort of think you might
expect of him (I am probably doing him a disservice buy saying that), one
step and he cooly caressed it over the wall and inside the near post.
It was more your 'arty' Brazilian style free kick, I was expecting something
more like the off the ball 'elbow in the face' style kick from him.
I do think he is overdue a call-up to the national squad by now though.
Kilbane had just put in a great looking cross just before the elbow
incident, which looked like a bit of revenge for something to me.
Willo Flood got a good vote for man of the match on the Man City site,
third with 14% (I voted for him but I never saw the game, just the odd highlight).
A lot of people complain about the Carling Cup but I have to say it has been a good breeding ground for Irish players in recent times. The likes of Willo Flood, Darren Potter, the lads at Millwall, and young Keogh of Leeds all got first team action this week. In recent times, I think I've paid more attention to the Carling Cup results than the Premiership. The Irish lads seem to do well in the competition. Worryingly, Jermain Defoe and Freddie Kanoute started ahead of Robbie Keane last night. Lets just hope Robbie was being rested.

Keegan) against Man City, who still lost, which must worry Arsenals

Jacque Santini said the other week that he was worried about the depth of the squad. He said he has only 2 real strikers (robbie & defoe) and they are playing a lot of internationals as well and its only oct/november.
I think he is trying to rest them as much as possible. But I wouldnt be surprised if Robbie picks up an injury next year with all this football he is playing.
Hopefully Jacque will get another striker in January.
a few irish scorers again today most notably rory delapdancers brace for southampton to give them what looks like an away win at the arsenal, duffer, andy reid,aidan mcgeady richie foran and darryl clare also scored plus if we are being greedy we could include lee trundle and kevin gallen,on the other hand another blank for robbie keane , john o shea not even on uniteds bench

Trundle is as Irish as someone like Breen or Kilbane.
He actually hit the bar from the half way line last week from a kick off.

Wonder if Cisse's long term injury (looked bad btw - hope he gets better) will see some of the Irish lads get a chance at Liverpool, by my reckoning theyve only got Baros and Pongolle as proven strikers (and there are questions about the latter being a "proven" striker). Either way thrye stuck with those 2 till Jan at least so maybe Potter and Partridge can get on the bench at least, well unless Benitez picks Mellor.
Yes. Trundle has been on Soccer Am 3 times now and the last time he was on I don't think he used the word Ireland, he just said my country (Tim and Helen said the word Ireland though so it was obvious he was talking about us). The other 2 times on he said he would only consider playing for Ireland.
He said he's not even thinking about playing international football and he said he doesn't deserve it playing in league 2. He did ask Kerr to consider calling him up to a B international as he heard Kerr was considering arranging one. He rejected a Northern Ireland call up too.
BTW - He never once brought up the topic of international football, he answers the questions he is asked so its not as if he's pleading with Kerr to call him up.

Delap is an option up front seeing as he can head the ball well,
with Duff whipping in the crosses we might get some easy goals,
I imagine he could hold the ball up well too.
when i saw trundle on soccer am, he said he'd love to play for ireland, he said ever since he was a kid he wore the irish jersey and supported ireland
