Played well once when in with a shout of the Euro16 squad, from memory. Never looked bothered since or before and really played poorly in a few too. The guy isnt interested, and quite possibly a secret Lion too.

But the question is - does he have more ability than Whelan and or Hendrick?

    Over the top comment.
"The guy isn't interested and quite possibly a secret Lion?"
He told you that, did he?
So to put things in perspective, Harry Arter went to the trouble of applying for a passport and getting his paperwork in order and telling all his family that he would be playing for Ireland. He then pulled on the green shirt 15 times, and he wasn't interested?
Do you have that amount of time to waste in your life?
    Not very logical is it?

Now now mark12345, cool yourself down man, keep it within posting guidelines, we have standards around here in such matters.

Plenty smoke around the Harry is at heart a Lion fire too, and RK thought so as well.

My sense is that Harry is happy enough to play for us as long as hes starting. I suspect he expected hed walk into our starting XI and between one thing and another that hasnt really happened. I wouldnt start him personally but ideally would have him on the bench. His problem is that hes not incredibly creative and while he is a good tackler hes not a disciplined holding guy.

A good all rounder but I think the likes or Hendrick & Hourihane offer more offensively while Whelan, for all his limitations, is incredibly disciplined and positionally aware in that holding role.

So I support the Hendrick/Hourihane/Whelan trio that Mick favours, and Id consider Arter as a replacement for Hendrick/Hourihane. But honestly maybe Id select a guy like Browne off the bench before Arter, as I think he perhaps has more upside.

This wouldn't even be true if Hendrick retired before (being arguably our best player at) the Euros.

Thats a pity about 'arry, now veteran Glenn will have to do all the heavy lifting, stand alone and fill the breach. . RK was full of cr*p about Arter and Walters and since then he has fallen way down the ladder to his true calling, getting standing ovations for pedding gems on tv, such as "they (Liverpool) need to bring their A game".

Such wanton inaccuracy. Everyone knows Scousers bring their ay-ay-ay game.
Hello, hello? What's going on? What's all this shouting, we'll have no trouble here!

Scores against Villa after coming on as a sub.Not that it particularly matters for us given his effective retirement.

Two goals in three games for Arter - worth giving him another shot in the Autumn? Or stick by Mick's decision to leave him "concentrate on club football" and only call on him if we're in a pickle in midfield.

I've gone cold on Arter on basis that I felt his commitment was poor, which was Mick's view too, but I suppose if you turn up and get bollocked by Roy Keane for getting physio treatment I suppose that'd make you lose your appetite. Still, good or not, I'm not sure he's a player I'll ever fully warm to.

Agreed. But look, new manager, clean slate/fresh start and all that. It seems SK is a fan so hopefully he can be of some value.
