I am looking for a bunch of missing Athlone line-ups if anyone can help me out, mostly just one or two players from each match.

I have got what I can from the Irish Press, Indo and Times, so am looking for details from local papers, old magazines or personal records.

I have a Michael Collins and a Denis Collins for 1996/97, So not sure which one it could be.

Yeah Mickey and Dave. Unfortunately they were both in the team around this time.

It's the same with the Sheehan in 87/88, it's Mickey or Terry, and there were a few Nugents around in 89/90.

For your 91/92 query, I came across the name Gary Cowell that season - could this be the Colwell you seek? Are you sure Colwell is the correct spelling of the surname, as I can't say for definite that Cowell is right either?

Colwell is the only name I have, but it was a one-off appearance so I can't say if it's right or wrong. The only Colwell I could find was Jason Colwell who was with UCD.

I had no joy with this today ATFConline but i know in 92/93 season we signed Fergal Nugent from Athlone Town.. Is that the same player by any chance? neither leader or news shed much light on the matter I am afraid.

Thanks Marty, I have that Leader report alright. It lists the 5 or 6 regulars that were left out of the team, but not their replacements.

I think it's Fergal alright, with Enda being the other possibility. The replacements were described as Youth players, and both Nugents were in the Youth team about two seasons before, but I think Enda would have been too old to still be there in 89/90.

Seems to be Gough alright, but the Munster Express match report is a little idiosyncratic I think, listing only 10 starting players for the Town.

Anyway, the line up, with full names where they appeared in the report, is:

No, the 'keeper was Jim Grace, and Denis Clarke was left out of the line-up.

Just to update that I've been given the name Martin Gormley for the 74/75 LC game against Rovers. Someone managed to get in touch with the man himself for me and he confirmed he was with us that season.

Meanwhile I open the local paper this evening and there is Fergal Nugent pictured after getting married, along with his best man Enda! Funnily enough they also have a pic of him from his Youth Team days elsewhere in the paper. Must find out what season the pic came from.
