How quickly people forget, even if this thread is a wind up, IMO Mike Kerley should have got the manager of the year award for what he achieved last season.

It obviously is a wind-up, and deserves no further mention in my book!!

Mike should definately be manager again next year, as a reward for what he has had to put up with. After that though, it remains to be seen - personally I don't think he has what it takes. He's too quiet and inactive on the touchline in my opinion. I'd say he'd be a good coach\assistant manager, but thats about it.

I don't think he'll be the gaffer next season, but he will have learned greatly from this experience. He should get his coaching badges and maybe look for a job as an assistant to a more experienced manager who he can learn from. I have no doubt he has the potential to be a very good manager one day, and lets not forget that this was a job he was landed with, not one he took by choice...

Mike still has another year to run on his contract.

You lads could do worse than have a chat with one Dave Hill - and team him with Kerley.

AFAIK he signed the two year contract at the start of this season, meaning he still has one year to go.

If Dave Hill took over I really would have to think long and hard about making the journey to see Limerick kick and gouge their way to mid-table. We couldn't afford his fines.

Why do you say Dave Hill? Has he even brought a team to the play-offs in the first division. He was sacked bya struggling first division club like ours - why would he make any difference with the Blues?

I'm afraid I'll have to disagree on this one. And don't get SLK started...

Hill is not the reason Ramblers have struggled.

In his 1st season they went within a whisker of the play-offs, which, with all respect is a lot better than your lads have managed for a while.

Hill was possibly the best signing Cork ever made and the biggest mistake as well when they let him go to Bohs - and i can tell you that with him in charge you wouldn't have any of the attitude problems from the likes of CP or those Galway lads.

Glad you were payinfg attention there Joe- but my original point stands - namely- you lads seem to have a good coach in kerley but need someone to put a bit of old fashioned backbone in the team as well.

And by the way - us Cork city fans are only waiting for the day when you get back to the Premier.

Cobh didn't have backbone under Hill, they were hackers (no relation to yourself?). Hill would really be an awful appointment - whatever crowds we have now would be eliminated by that type of football.

"Hill is not the reason Cobh have struggled"? Who is then. Lack of resources? Well, Limerick won't provide much more than he had at Cobh. He had some good players - Yelverton, Bruton - but was always happier to have his teams (and he was the worst culprit) kick their way through the league. It would be kind of like putting Alan Reynolds in charge of Cork - that would sort O'Callaghan out.

I don't think Kerley can really be blamed too much either for the CP, Galway lads' attitude problems. He had no sanction to use against them - he couldn't drop them - we only had 10 outfield players at some matches. From Kerley's attitude when a full squad was available I think he can make tough decisions and drop unruly players when he feels the need. But he needs a squad to do that.

I actually met Dave Hill in Cork a few weeks ago and despite the fact that he recognised me we had a nice, if brief, chat.
