Four Irish players in the Stoke v Villa game today (five if you include Jermaine Pennant as Irish!)

Marc Wilson had a dodgy game at right back, his distribution was alright, except from one absolute suicide moment, when he gave the ball away on the edge of the area, and then committed a foul that could quite easily have seen him given a red card.

Jon Walters played well on the right wing. Ran like an absolute maniac, had some decent distribution, clever touches, and even skinned players a few times. I was impressed, but still think Ireland have better options out wide.

Glenn Whelan was relatively anonymous, but didn't do anything stupid, and didn't give away any crazy fouls, so I was pleasantly surprised. His distribution wasn't too bad either.

Ciaran Clark was decent, got booked for a horrible tackle, but overall was solid enough. Both Stoke goals were down to Villa not closing down enough in midfield, letting Stoke players have enough space to play a decent ball in
