Are you well? Noel left two weeks before the start of the season - dropping us right in it. Mike Kerley took over (and of course inherited Noel's team). The early results were very poor - understandably given the pre-season they'd had and having a new manager landed in. Remember, although we had won the league cup (a great achievement) we finished bottom of the league.Originally Posted by fc hammer
That season (Mike's first) ended with a 14 game unbeaten run and a playoff defeat away to Derry. A team had been created and well managed, creating a team is not just about assembling the right players. Then in the close season the entire team (well, 9 of them) left or were allowed to leave. A new team had to be built right from scratch again with the threat that there might not even be league football - we couldn't get a license until 2 weeks before the season kicked off. How easy is it to get players to sign when you don't even know if the team will be in the league? This season we have gone to matches with 9 outfield players. There is no point in having a manager if the team is picked for you.
So, you give out about Mike and say he should go because we are bottom of the league. And you want to bring back the previous manager. Where did we finish in his last season in charge? Oh yeah, bottom of the league.
