Question UEFA Badges/Licences in Irish Football

Folks, just wondering who has what badges within Irish Football.

Right now, we know that John Caulfield is going for his UEFA Pro Licence in Feb 2014 so he has his UEFA A Licence already.
Tommy Dunne had the managers position with City so he must have a UEFA Pro Badges as well.

Who else do we know of (that we can confirm) that has a UEFA Pro and who has a UEFA A or B at the moment?

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

A list of coaches with the UEFA PRO Coaching License. It's important to note, these are coaches that have done the course through the FAI, there are obviously other coaches based in Ireland that have completed the course through the IFA/SFA/theFA/WFA, etc. Also, the list doesn't take into account managers from outside Ireland of course.

Ok, that's great ... So I know John Caulfield is in the 2014 group, would I be right in saying Owen Heary will be in that group as well? Do we know of anyone else going for it?

Stuart Taylor has a Pro license from the SFA.

If youre actually going to get into A and B licenses youre talking dozens if not 100s of people....

Off the top of my head:

A: Declan Farmer, Declan Considine, Noel O'Connor, Barry Ryan (ex striker not the goalkeeper), Tommy Gaynor, Conor Nestor, Colin O'Brien, Alan Reynolds.

B: Dave Dineen, Tommy Barrett, Jason O'Connor, Denis Hynes.

And with that, the entire programme was discredited.

Ireland has 141 A and PRO coaches according to a report from earlier this year. Unfortunately the link I had for the report no longer works though.

    Got it: http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/...6_DOWNLOAD.pdf

From UEFA themselves as of March 25th.

31 PRO level, 110 A level and 500 B level. Our number of qualified coaches compared to playing population is abysmal- significantly worse than in England were there at least seems to be some recognition of the fact. That and the lack of focus on the LOI and sorting football structures generally are probably the biggest issues the FAI need to address.

There would be more coaches with the pro licence if it didn't cost €7,500 to get in Ireland.

    http://coaching.fai.ie/images/FAI_UE...ation_Pack.pdf

It's more expensive in Wales too

Much cheaper to get your licences in the north. I think the likes of Peter Hutton has his badges through the IFA. A lot of players from England came over to do coaching badges with the IFA recently enough. Steve Harper, Joey Barton, Maik Taylor among them.

It's not really price, but frequency. Loads of pros from England do the A + B licence with the FAI for example

If it links to a web page, as opposed to a pdf or word file, it could be possible to recover it. Send it on if you still have it.

    That's only half the course.

In fairness to them, the €7500 includes you're accommodation, meals, flights and transfers, etc throughout the course. Unlike the A and B Courses where you have to pay your own way no matter where the course is being held.

I wasn't having a pop at the FAI, I'm just highlighting how expensive the PRO licence is everywhere

Yeah, it's very costly to get your badges from start to finish.

    Kick Start €50
    Kick Start 2 €75
    Strength and Conditioning €25
    Small sided games €25
    Youth Cert €300
    UEFA B €1500
    UEFA A €2350
    Pro €7500

Basically €12,000 from start to finish, not including the travel/time off work/accommodation, etc which is probably another few grand for most folk outside of Dublin.

Duno about the rest but that's coming from Conor Nestor himself at a recent kick start course I did. Watch out Qatar 2022! [/COLOR]
