Home Farm did previously also- and they actually met if I recall correctly.
There's only one club has had two teams in the FAI Cup in the same year.
Just saying.

Home Farm v Home Farm Everton?
Bah. A split, not a B side. Don't try and knock this - it may be the one thing we have going for us all season!
(Well, that and Bray having no players)
If clubs are so eager all of a sudden to field reserve teams, the A Championship should return with it's north and south leagues. Invite a few junior/intermediate teams, only a €5k registration fee as before, a small bit of criteria with a sprinkling of some fudge and there it is!![]()

A Championship: 4 years - 8 first teams - 0 financially ruined. First Division '14: 7 first teams.
Opportunity lost for new clubs/regions to join the LoI family.
I always thought (form the outside looking in) that the A league was fantastic for us. It gave players a chance to develop at a level between senior and underage (19's) and it gave lads coming back from injury some game time.
Not happening this year by the look of things: http://www.donegaldemocrat.ie/sport/...ieve-1-5802503

Yeah, the LSL team got banned by the FAI after qualifying the last time. Seems quite pointless tbh.
Though our LSL team played Arklow when they were in the Cup, and the winners went on to play the LoI team. So we were quite close to UCD v UCD in the Cup. Bumper crowd for that one!

You'd think they'd try to set up a few derby-ish fixtures for the first week. Shels-Rovers B, Galway-Longford, Waterford-Wexford.
And the greatest derby of them all.. Cobh v Harps.
But yeah, ideally they would make anyone travel too far the first day. But that Galway Longford game looks a belter- the two favourites going head to head on the first day.

The friendliest first series of games I can remember for Harps in a long, long time. 3 home games out of the first 4. Only one Friday away game in the First series to Shelbourne, one Sunday away to Shamrock Rovers and one Saturday away to Longford, meaning the furthest we have to travel is Dublin for the first 7 weeks.
I know many Dublin clubs complain about travelling the whole way up to Derry/Harps/Sligo, but it's an absolute breath of fresh air to us not to have to worry about trips to Waterford/Cobh/Wexford until the second round of games. By then, hopefully the club will have saved enough money to pay for those three trips in the second round comfortably.
Delighted to be honest with the way it's playing out.

Any update on Cobhs situation? They don't seem to have signed anyone yet?
I heard Cobh are back training next Saturday so I expect players will sign then...
Cobh announcement due on Friday as far as I'm aware.
