I dare say whatever team is ahead at Christmas will win the league.

Getting promoted would surely be a successful season for most sane rational people

This. I'd soon get over not winning it if we go up. Of course it's better to win it and not have to endure the nerve shredding play offs but if we're playing PD football next season that'll mean it ended up being a successful season. End of story.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Not winning the FD would be a failure IMO and even if they won the playoffs I would favour letting TC go.

The playoffs are a lottery stacked against the FD teams. Even if Longford are very strong but get pipped to the title, playing against FD teams doesn't exactly set you up brilliantly to take on a PD team.

This is ridiculous. The objective of teams in the first division is to get promoted. If it's through the play offs then so be it. If Longford are promoted then it's a successful season.
I also don't buy this notion of the play offs being a lottery. It's nothing of the sort. The team that plays better over the games will generally win.

So you think TC will have done a good job if a team with an inferior squad wins the FD ahead of Longford?

To be fair he's said nothing of the sort, merely that promotion would constitute a successful season.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Limerick had no hesitation in sacking Scully after he under preformed during their league winning campaign so I can't see why if TC doesnt deliver the goods this season he shouldnt face similar circumstances. This is not me trying to put pressure on the man or anything like that but he will never have a better FD squad than this so its win or bust for him this season.

Maybe I have made my point badly, but in my opinion, if Cousins is not able to win the title this season, with the squad he has at his disposal, he will have done a poor job. Winning the playoffs wouldn't change that.

They should sack Cousins even if they win the league imo.

My point was nothing to do with Cousins really. I stand by the opinion that if Longford are promoted then it's a successful season for them.
Maybe Cousins wouldn't be the manager for Longford in the Premier. We had that situation when we won the first but didn't keep John Gill.

Wouldn't really disagree with that to be fair. You can have a successful season whilst at the same time it's not as successful as it could or should have been. Anyway I believe the likes of Rice and Flynn and Sullivan were brought in for their experience and leadership as much as their ability in the hope of avoiding any form of collapse this year.
