The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Real pity Neil Harneys goal away to Cobh was not recorded. Was an absolute belter of a free kick about 35 yards out into the top corner.

I could think of 3 or 4 goals scored in Finn Park this season, either equal to, or better than at least half of those eight. Pity really.

The 8 aren't the best 8, they're the monthly winners (plus Greg Bolger's for Pats against Sligo).

    Daryl Horgan's should win

I was surpised at Bolger's inclusion, Towell's long range strike goal against Cork on the same night was much superior.

However, as Towell was already nominated, I can understand RTE wanting to give other players a chance.

Haven't watched the list yet but pretty sure there are 2 goals scored by Cork City players that didn't win their GotMs

Danny Morrissey in the X - not sure who it was against (possibly Bohs) but it was from an opposition corner - brilliant break involving Daryl Horgan - Morrissey took one touch on his right to tee himself up and lashed it in to the top corner with his left.

Ian Turner's goal in Bray - unreal hit. The "script-reading" commentator seemed totally oblivious to its quality.
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Not even the Champions best goal this season, we have a good few to pick from like a lot of teams seem to. A good season for great goals.
    Here on a technicality.

Yes, lots of great goals this season. I can't believe one of Hoban's overhead kicks didn't make the cut either.
