If he went to a team where he was being asked to adjust his game to accommodate more experienced players, or even worse, was coming off the bench, it wouldn't do as much for his development.
Agreed entirely. It might seem a long stretch, but what if Guardiola sees him in pre-season and thinks he can fit him in his plans? If this were to occur then he'd want to give fairly strong assurances to Byrne or else it would be a season down the drain but getting gametime and the tutelage of Guardiola would surely be huge in his development. It might be a season too soon for this to occur so, yeah, a move to a good European side might be his best bet.

It's going to be one interesting summer for this lad between a potential bolt towards the Euros and an intriguing next club step to take.

Maybe a move to a slightly stronger league for a year but to a blub where he would once again be very important to the team. Montpellier/Bologna/FC Koln or the likes

Ajax are looking to sign Marcel Keizer (his manager at Cambuur) at Ajax, as replacement for Jaap Stam. He might be able to put in a good word for Jack at Ajax ;-)

Stokes, Duffy, Lenihan, O'Sullivan is back from his latest loan and now possibly Byrne at the same club next season

I don't know why but I feel slightly disappointed with this move. Another season at a European club might have done him better, or even a pre-season under Pep. Still, only 20, finger's crossed he get's plenty of game time. Regular games in the championship should lead to a regular spot in the international squads. Big hopes for the lad.

So its Stokes, Duffy, Lenihan O'Sullivan & now Byrne at Blackburn, not since the days of Duff coming through will there have been so many Irish eyes trained upon Ewood Park

Speculation that Chris McCann might also link up again with Owen Coyle as he's out of contract at Wigan.

I hope Byrne is a good as he has suggested so far but I could see the following scenario very easily...

Manager thinks he is too small for the Championship to play center midfield so he gets shoved out to the wing where he is in and out of the team all season. Man City then decide hes not good enough so he ends up in Aberdeen next season where he farts around the SPL for a few years. If hes lucky after that he might find a manager who will take a chance on him and everyone suddenly realizes by the time hes 29 that hes actually a brilliant player and he then becomes a luxury player that the manager uses at home but not away from home.

Basically he could be the new Wes .... this season will tell a lot!
    Its really not that complicated!!!

That'sounds a possibility but we can short circuit it by picking him in central midfield and showing faith in him

Could this actually be a problem? With O'Sullivan returning from his highest-level loan spell and Lenihan just after establishing himself in the Rovers' team, is there a danger that Byrne's arrival could lead to a setback for one of them? Or on the positive side, could we see a future Irish midfield partnership arise? I guess, as always, only time will tell.

After his loans at Rochdale and Bury, O'Sullivan will have to work very hard to get a look-in at Blackburn. He's gone backwards in the last 12 months.

Turned down offers from French and Israeli clubs.

Wonder who the French club was.

Those are the countries he referred to anyways when he was talking about offers.
