I haven't heard any stories about him going mental with the nightlife. The impression I get is that he's one of those fellas that people love to hate - he's clearly a smartass. I've been managing people for years (granted their techheads) - but, if i'm deducing his character correctly, they're the type i'd want to get rid of as soon as HR-ally possible as they're Basically, smart-alec arseholes. Most important to note, they are pure-poison in a team.
I hope i've completely read him wrong and even if not, it's easily coachable, but needs a solid mentor.

Stokes ,in my view. is a fella that wants to be half-a-gangster. He's got the full whack: violence, sex tapes, the Reals etc.To that end I would argue that's got some serious psychological issues and was never going to change unless he underwent some major therapy (I mean this in a genuine way)

I wouldn't put Gibson anywhere near these two. He was doing grand for the most part until he did his cruciat. That's when it looks like he started hitting the bottle. We should all be rooting for him imo. He always seemed to be a moody gruagach but there's not too much plamas from him before 2014.

And there we have it = Rovers

    https://www.the42.ie/jack-byrne-sham...80512-Dec2018/

Ultimately he's the perfect example of the FAIs despicable handling of the LOI.
If this kid even got 3 or 4 more years with a local club then he's still going over younger than 20, but has been able to finish growing up around family and friends, But that simply wont happen until the clubs in Ireland start to have academies.

I remember him training with the Irish seniors and there’s was a couple of comments from MON/Keane about him not lacking confidence. It wasn’t said in a hugely complimentary way, reading between the lines

Aye, in an interview during that week he directly said he's better than half the players in the squad. Dunno why Keano didnt rip him a new one

Rovers seem a bit overstocked now in midfield. Hopefully he doesn't hold back playing time for the young bolger and kavanagh.

Truth be told, he wont even make it at rovers.

He has been around bit and will have plenty of a geographical nature to discuss .

Didn't MON mention him when asked about Crowley lately?

Something along the lines of them being similar personalities - also not meant in a complimentary fashion.

I think it was just meant to pour cold water on the calls for immediate inclusion of Crowley - something along the lines "last time everyone wanted me to call up a confident, ball-playing midfielder at one of the less famous Eredivisie teams, it was Jack Byrne... and look how that turned out"

Scored an utter peach and apparently played very well last night with Mick in the stands.

Could this be a move that actually works out for him?

The lad was one of the best young players in Europe. The issue has never been talent, but attitude and desire.

Playing in Ireland may give him a rocket up his arse, but my gut is that it brings him right back to part of the problem.

Lovely to see really hope he can stay consistent for the season. It's a tough midfield to stay in with the midfielder s rovers had on the bench last night. Bradley was an equally talented youngster in his day

He ran to Bradley immediately after scoring. Hopefully Bradley can influence him positively on the plights of relishing success too young.

He was magnificent in the Uefa Youth League. Not a stretch to say he was a top class teenager at all and as I saw a lot of those games, in my opinion he was among the most talented. Sane when he was at Schalke youths was probably the best I recall.

Anyhow, it means little. He's not achieved what he was capable of.

Nowhere near it. Which is one of the saddest indictments of anyone, no matter what their gift.

Wait... What... Why!!?? His career has been drifting badly: Man City to Blackburn to Oldham to Kilmarnock to Shamrock Rovers (with a half-decent loan spell at the smallest Eredivisie side). I know none of the following options are outstanding but surely they have more pedigree than Byrne:
    1. McGeady - tearing it up for Sunderland in League One (should really be in the Championship) and we know what he can do against Georgia.
    2. Shaun Williams, Ryan Manning and Richie Towell - all playing regularly in the Championship
    3. Jake Mulraney and Daryl Horgan - SPL regulars this season
    4. Cyrus Christie - Premier League right-back, could probably be moved to a more advanced midfield role if required
