Asked Emmet Malone on twitter if he had heard anything about Byrnes situation at Wigan and why he wasn't getting a look in. He didn't know immediately but said he would look into it.
He got back to me today having spoken to someone and said that Byrne was felt not to be 100% match fit after the move but is getting there and should feature soon.
Its really not that complicated!!!
Wigan manager, Warren Joyce, provides an update on Jack Byrne: http://www.wigantoday.net/sport/foot...d-co-1-8432816

Strange comment re Holland also, as thought it doesn't count fully either.
it would tie in with this recent post on twitter, when asked if he was fit: https://twitter.com/Jackb_8/status/834504827065479169
Feeling a lot fitter mate can't wait to get going
Haha. The Holland comment was probably just awkward wording. It comes across as though he was away in Amsterdam, stuck down in the Red Light. The reality was he was playing regular senior football.
Owen Coyle has a lot to answer for. Between stunting Byrne's development and those comments about playing for Ireland when the Scotland job was last available, he's not wearing his one Irish cap around the place much.
Fingers crossed on Jack. There are a couple of months left for him to get a good run.

A new manager at Wigan.....As a player you have to keep an open mind on managers because like a box of chocolates that you have never seen before and there is no explainey thingy.....you don't know who you are going to get next....
That's true Forrest.
Noel King's reasoning for excluding Byrne from the U-21 squad.
http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-35560826.html
Dimaio has started a total of two games since the turn of the year for Chesterfield, who are a league below."We have lots of competition in midfield. Ryan Manning is doing well at QPR, our new captain Josh Cullen is a regular on loan at Bradford City from West Ham United and Connor Dimaio is getting games for Chesterfield."
Absolutely ridiculous reasoning.
It's poor man management and another knock for the lad's confidence.
This is the same person who dished out U-21 call-ups to several lads who haven't so much as made the bench at senior level let alone made an appearance.

That wasn't what I was doing at all actually. I was criticising his reasoning for excluding Byrne because it is clearly flawed.Criticising a manager for not picking a player who has played no football whilst also criticising the same manager for picking players who have played no football. Classic.
The reasons he excludes Byrne should preclude him from calling up Dimaio.
At least be consistent and not spout things that are clearly nonsense. He has called up several eligible players in the past despite their club circumstances. (I wonder why)
Classic.
You clearly demonstrated circular reasoning. I didn't mention anything about Noel King. Take a bit of criticism like a grown up.
I pointed out an inconsistency in what King said. I struggle to understand what is hard to grasp about that, especially in light of the kerfuffle between MON/Koeman.
Maybe I would accept your criticism if it had the slightest point and/or didn't have the unnecessary "classic" sarkiness at the end of it.
Your right, I can see how my comment looks unnecessarily sarky. Was honestly meant tongue in cheek. No offence intended.
But to be clear. do you agree that Byrne should not have been called up because he's not getting a game for Blackburn?

He's always getting byrned, that guy.
Can you do me a favour and clarify your use of the word "eligible"? I don't see it's relevance in a normal context, unless you're pushing an agenda.
Byrne has not been match fit. Warren Joyce confirmed this. Diamaio has been. Two appearances suggests he's not preferred. Not deemed completely out of favour.
You were one of the people with an agenda over Kelly getting called up to the senior squad ahead of Manning. I thought it made sense. Manning has no under 21 appearances and is underage. Yet, he didn't play much good, by all accounts, on his first appearance.
