Great to see. Only lad I’m unfamiliar with is Daniel Ring. The squad is missing guys like Kaylem Harnett, Mason Melia, Ike Orazi, Jayden Umeh and Ade Solanke - presumably a mix of guys playing first team football (Melia, Harnett?) with guys injured or not released by their clubs

Good squad as always for that age group. The big names that are missing are Jaden Umeh who had that horror injury recently and Rory Finneran who I would have thought would have been with the 19s but he’s not there either.

Ben Dumigan is a new name to me

Surprised not to see Gavin McAteer of Finn Harps on there. Tom Mohan has spoke very highly of him, and thought he was a shoe in for upcoming 17's international window after making 10 appearances so far this season in the First Division, despite only turning 16 this summer.

Lost 2-1 apparently. I’d be starting Topcu, Oladiti and Martos ahead of Noonan, Canny and Skoubo Keely.

Hopefully Umeh and Finneran will be allowed to represent us in the qualifiers if fit - they’re weirdly not in an international window this year (end of october / early November in Northern Ireland) - so presumably clubs have no obligation to release players.

Grady O’Donnell is probably the only other who is really at risk in that respect

Michael Noonan scored his first senior goals grabbing two in Pats 3-1 win over Maynooth town in the LSC to advance to the final. Only just turned 16 and became their youngest ever senior player back in May when he also played in LSC.

Will it be difficult for him to have much involvement , Pats seem to have good central striker options

We'll see next year, he'll probably get a chance to start the LSC final at least before then.

From the BBC football rumours page.

" Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Republic of Ireland Under-17 forward Michael Noonan, 16, from St Patrick's Athletic. (Fabrizio Romano) "

Looks like Noonan has now signed for Man City judging by his mum's twitter.

Not sure if this is quite the right place for this, but I see that former Irish Under 17 international Paul Lawless has been elected to the Dail. He's was in the same age group as Jeff Hendrick and Mark O'Brien and the three were all on the books at Derby County together. Will be interesting to see if having someone with a football background will make any difference in terms of funding etc., though he will be in opposition I'd assume.

Are you sure it's the same guy? His age is reported as 27, Hendrick and O'Brien are both 32

    <EDIT>
Actually his age is reported as 32 as well. Seems the 27 comes from his profile on aontu's website, which probably should be updated.

Yeah, it's the same person, he was 27 five years ago as well!

A lot of u16s in that squad. I wonder was the issue getting release from clubs or what the situation was - but missing:

    Alex Noonan

    Oladiti
    Steward
    Solanke
    Sherlock

    McDonnell

    J Umeh
    Michael Noonan

Those are 8 lads I'd expect in my squad (Steward has been left out of recent squads for whatever reason, so wouldn't be surprised if that happened again).

Meanwhile, there were 6 u16s in the squad (Brunton, Moloney, Gabbidon, Spaight, Sullivan, Dunne)
