Show us the money!!!Bizarre move for a guy looking to go to England.
Even with the cited new sources of revenue, this is a recipe for disaster. Just have a horrible feeling its gonna be a headline for a good while in a year or two. Maybe not, fingers crossed, but either way its not sustainable.
It's not a transfer fee though.
Exactly, that's why i said if !!!![]()
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
David McMillan signed for Dundalk, confirmed on our website
I heard this today, but appears to be nothing less than a loophole that Derry are hoping to expose, nothing has been decided yet re a fee, so this will still effect Derry's licence until a final decision is made.
Horgan transfer not a done deal just yet, will possibly be announced tomorrow, compensation is well below the 20k figure that has been suggested.

Fair point. If Dundalk are increasing their budget significantly then it's their prerogative to allocate it wherever they want. My 'absolute aversion' to transfer/compensation fees is that, in the past, it has indicated a financial recklessness by the club paying and it's usually followed by a * sitting beside the team's name in the table. Again, for a club that almost went under, it's a big gamble but I suppose it's their right to take it.
Whatever the amount Dundalk seem to be spending quite a bit of money.
I hope they have it & are not just another League of Ireland club chasing the dream again.
League of Ireland history is full of dream chasers & it usually ends in tears.
Spending the money isn't the problem, its paying the invoices when they come in that's the problem.
My concern is increasing the budget on the basis of anticipated additional match day revenue as a result of increasing ticket prices by almost 50%.
Whether the increased budget is spent on compensation payments, additional players, or higher salaries is not that important.
I would be lying if I said I am not worried and that there are not risks involved. The additional costs are 100% certain to arise, not so the additional revenue.

Compensation is fairly complicated. It's based on age, wages, length of time with a club etc. That's if it goes to tribunal. Sligo and Salthill will also get a part of this payment (as it's a development fee, and they played their part in his development too)
Didn't Dundalk pay about 10k on the 2 lads from Mervue 2 years ago? That McCaffrey spoofer may just have been the worst manager the league has ever seen.
