It has an October 29 release date according to Eidos, but they are expecting a delay with that..

BIG WARNING-The game which will have the title 'Championship Manager' is NOT the one to buy. There was a split between Sports Ineteractive(SI) and Eidos, and Eidos kept the name. However, Eidos never atually made the game, merely published it. SI, who made the game what it is are releasing FOOTBALL MANAGER, which is the real CM5. Found this out a while back, just to make sure no-one buys the crapper version.

I have a mate I went to college with who works fors SI, they got to keep the code and database of Championship Manager, but not the name, so they bought the name Football Manager from another company who made that game years ago.

Sounds like SI got the better deal to be honest, think of it like SI having a Ferrari, but being told they have to paint it a different colour, it's the same underneath, whereas Eidos just got to paint their car the colour of your Ferrari, it's still a crap car, but it looks like a Ferrari!. That might not be the best description, but you get the idea!

the beta demo was on the si website for 7 days, which was riddled with bugs according to reports. a gold demo'll be up before release.
