Robbie Keane insists the Republic of Ireland's efforts against France must not go to waste when they face the minnows from the Faroe Islands on Wednesday.

Ireland produced arguably their most disciplined and organised display under manager Brian Kerr on Saturday when they held France to a goalless World Cup qualifying draw in Paris.

With five points from their opening three matches, along with France, Switzerland and Israel, Ireland now have the chance to head into the international winter break as Group Four leaders.

"Full credit to the lads because we worked our socks off and deserved the point. It was a great team performance," said Keane.
