    None Of The Above

With 30-35% "Don't Knows" regularly recorded in opinion polls, is there an argument for adding such an option to Irish ballot papers? Abstention is generally ignored, vote-spoiling serves as a protest but sends no real message, but NOTA specifically expresses discontent towards the existing political options.

Great idea. Will never, ever, ever be contemplated by Ireland's political world.

But for what end? It's unlikely the established parties will suddenly offer up a candidate more suitable to your preferences. If you're not content with the options available, I suppose you can always stand for election yourself?

Its not that hard to get on the ballot really, but the entire system is weighed against Independents (as it is everywhere really, nature of the beast).
