A ‘flu bug has wreaked havoc on the Cork City squad ahead of the Premier Division clash with FA Ireland Carlsberg Cup finalists Longford Town at Turners Cross tonight (Monday, 7.45pm).

Liam Kearney and Kevin Doyle, Cork’s two Irish under-21 international representatives, were in France with Don Givens’s squad for Friday night’s Euro qualifier and returned to base feeling the effects of the virus over the weekend.

Since then, John O’Flynn and Neale Fenn have also contracted the illness, meaning manager Pat Dolan could be without his three first-choice strikers and a key winger.

With Colin T. O’Brien out for another three weeks at least with a shoulder problem and left back Danny Murphy suspended for tonight’s game, it means Cork – who have won their last two Premier Division outings – could be forced to field a severely weakened line-up against the midlanders.

Youngster Denis Behan is likely to come into the attack if one or three of the strikers are ruled out, while George O’Callaghan is likely to return to the starting line-up in midfield in place of the sidelined O’Brien.

Longford are without midfielder Vinny Perth, but Alan Kirby, Sean Prunty and John Martin may all be available for selection after recovering from minors knocks.

    I guess I'd go with

    Devine
    Lordan Benno Murray Hoggy
    Woods Greg Gamble Nwankwo
    George Behan

but I'd expect Dolan to give Lopez (or maybe even Kev Murray) a start in midfield if it's really that bad
Not holding out too much hope now to be honest
