how? this is more than what the GUST were asking for.
how? this is more than what the GUST were asking for.
The most important paragraph of the press release which will hopefully lead to a members owned and run club with seats on the board for the other stakeholders as well those elected by the members. Gust are not loonies just people who want to see a community based sustainable club being allowed to grow in Galway City and County.
"Supporter’s involvement is a key ingredient and critical to the success and integration of this new entity in the community and Galway United Supporters Trust (GUST) continue to work with the board and the co-op subcommittee on examining the development of a cooperative structure."
We are the Galway Boys Stand up and make some noise"
If clubs played each other on the same day at two age groups the cost would be reduced massively. Eg. Derry City v Shamrock Rovers u17 & u15. One big bus to take both squads to Dublin.
Reduced rate for feeding the team due to large group discount. Or better yet make the home team responsible for feeding the away team after the match. Most clubs have a restaurant/hotel as a sponsor so could get good reduction on this. Each team reciprocates.
Make part of the criteria that games get played where there is two pitches. Play both games simultaneously.
Easy.

Either the club is members owned or it is not. Fine if this is the what is going to happen in the near future, but the idea that a committee will look into the possibility of co-op ownership does not give me much confidence. A co-op will likely happen if Galway FC struggle badly at the start, however if things go well why would those "stakeholders" with the power give up their control of the entity.
Exactly. It makes no difference what the opinion of supporters is when they will be given a pat on the head and told they were democratically defeated any time a decision of any importance is made.
Mervue and Salthill reps have no place being on a board of this entity and neither do GUST. GUST members never voted to support this.
Either it is a one man, one vote co-operative that can't be hi-jacked by local gombeens or national "administrators", which is likely has been already... or they can take a run and jump.

A co-op can be hijacked too... and usually without much cost to those doing so.
If the club is well run and transparent that's a hell of a start. Fans representation is important- but won't be a silver bullet by any means.

Has Galway FC a crest? Any pic's
I have scattered my dreams underneath your feet, tread carefully, cos it's my dreams you walk on.
Galway F.C. will be launched next Monday evening, December 2nd at the Connacht Hotel, Dublin Road (5.30pm).
Best of luck to them. I just hope to god it all goes well and we have another strong team competing for honours in the league. The league needs to have a strong team in Galway and i hope they can put all the recent history behind them now and all get behind this team. This is the best means available to Galway football to get players playing to the highest level they can. Onwards and upwards !!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Total anorak question, but in Terryland did they have one side of the ground with 'Galway United FC' painted into the stand seating, if so assume the word 'United' has to come out?
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).
5.30 seems a pretty dreadful time for a launch. Too early for most people to get to after work. Anyone know what the reasoning between this was?

Galway should walk the First Division this season. By the sound of things, they will have a budget bigger than half of the premier division sides.
I presume that the early time is to faciliate media. Galway FC will have a decent First Division budget, certainly nothing near what would be required to compete in the Premier Division.
The average wage of the playing squad will be nowhere near that figure.
Its the silly season in LOI - I hope no-one is going to Harps claiming that Galway are offering them €400 a week !
Get rid of Dunne if he's offering any Finn Harps player €400 a week!!!
roddy collins you're a flanker you're a flanker!
new website: www.galwayfc.ie
a proportion of the players coming into the club will be on amateur terms. I'm sure there will be hardly any players on wages even close to €400/w.
