apropos of nothing, I recently picked up a programme from the above match. Here's the Irish line-up, does anyone recognise any names from League of Ireland football?

    R Dalton (Bolton Ath)
    J Miley (Rialto)
    E Ryan (Home Farm) captain
    C O'Connor (Rialto)
    J McLoughlin (Waterford)
    T Kavanagh (Southend United, Dublin)
    C Pobjoy (Drogheda)
    W Newman (Home Farm)
    F McEwan (Bolton Ath)
    J Ryan (Riverside, Limerick)
    A Aherne (Pyke, Limerick)
    Reserves
    B Curran (Stella Maris)
    N Ryan (Rialto)
    J Dixon (Dunsink Ath)

The England team includes Jimmy Husband

f mcewan is that Frank McEwan that won senior caps for Ireland- think he played in early 70s and played for Blackburn?
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

That's Cecil Pobjoy of Drogheda. Frank McEwan is correct also.
Would be delighted if anyone could confirm any of the other first names.
...Schwanholz, Herisau: a little bit of heaven...

Both Johnny Ryan and Tony Aherne played for Limerick in the LoI albeit briefly. Both still live in Limerick.

Johnny Ryan played mainly for Ballynanty I believe. Riverside are long gone. Tony "Fresh" Aherne was with Pike Rovers.
