    Galway United v Cobh Ramblers

Conor Frawley(honeymoon), Fran Carter(emigrated), Derek O'Brien(suspended) are all absent for the Cobh game. There are a number of injury concerns and the following will all have late fitness checks, Damien Dupuy(ankle), Mark Herrick(heel), Mixie Harty(hip) and David O'Dowd(back). David Cooke, Paraic Lee, Gary Fitzgerald and Luke Byrne could be added to the squad.

    .................................................. .

I have to say i really though Galway would be up there this season. All the signs said that you'd be right up there in the thick of it. It aint over yet but it is a big ask.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    Foot.ie! No Chance!

No more than ourselves, promotion is definetley out of Galway's reach now. UCD,Harps(altough I hate to see it) & Bray in that order are going up and Dublin City will be re-joining us next season.

Haven't a notion of getting promoted. All we have now is to go unbeaten at home for the season, as we are still the only club in both divisions unbeaten at home this season in the league.

Our down fall is when we play away, something has to change next season as we will prove that you have to do well away from home to succeed in this division.

Galway United 4 Cobh Ramblers 3

After two goalless draws in the previous two meetings between these sides this season both sides produced an entertaining game which resulted in United maintaining their fine home form and running out 4-3 winners.

United opened the scoring on 14 minutes after a superb looping header from Damien Dupuy from a Nicky Curran cross. Galway went two up on 25 minutes from a corner, Adrian Carberry's corner was only half cleared and David O'Dowd was on hand to slam the ball home. On 36 minutes United nearly made it three when a Colin Fortune free was met by Ronan Frawley but his header curled narrowly wide.

Cobh created their first opportunity of note in the 38th minute when Stevie Yelverton volleyed wide. Cobh got back into the game two minutes into first half injury time when Nigel Keady caught Dave Warren from behind in the box and Damien Hancock pointed to the spot for a clear cut penalty. Yelverton blasted the spot kick high into the net giving Alan Gough no chance.

Two minutes into the second half United restored their two goal advantage after some good work by Nicky Curran and David Cooke down the right. Cooke picked out Fortune who hit a spectacular right footed effort from 30 yards to the top right corner of the net. After this goal United sat back and Cobh gained in confidence and put the back four under a lot of pressure but did not create any chance of note until the 67th minute when Michael Mulconry hit a Eoghan Lougheed cross wide from six yards out. Cobh did pull a goal back on 69 minutes when Robert Brosan pulled back a Eoghan Lougheed cross and with Gough out of position Dave Warren hooked the ball in from ten yards out despite the best efforts of Ronan Frawley to block the ball on the line.

Frawley nearly restored United's two goal lead when he met a Fortune cross but his looping header landed on top of the crossbar on 78 minutes. United did get their fourth but not until the 91st minute when United broke quickly from their own box and sub Paraic Lee picked out another sub Barry Moran, Moran raced clear from the halfway line and coolly dispatched the ball past Hennessy.

Cobh kept on battling and got their third goal when Dave Warren headed home a corner in the 93rd minute. Fortunately for United they held out for the last minute of injury to secure another home win.
