    Cobh Ramblers

Deserved win for the Youths in Ferrycarrig tonight as they posed more of a scoring threat with two mobile forwards in Daragh and Graham and with Danny Fitz also a revelation with his finishing. With a number of suspensions, Youths started with Graham, Craig, Robert Maloney, Donal, Shane, Eric, Joey, Crokey, Danny and with Graham and Daragh up front. Youths started well and, after two minutes, Danny hit the side-netting when he slighty pulled a shot. A minute later, Joey was sent free down the right and Daragh had a clear header which he put just wide. On ten minutes, Danny beat his full-back on the inside with a drop of the shoulder and just reached the ball first before the advancing Hallaghan in the Cobh goal to prod it home for 1-0. On the quarter hour, Wexford went two up when a ball bounced high outside the box and with three players jumping for it, the Cobh keeper and a defender and Graham. When the dust settled, only Graham was still on his feet and he rolled the ball into the empty net for 2-0. The Cobh defender in this challenge, Burns, went off holding his back after this incident. Rest of the half was fairly nondescript with McCarthy coming on for Barrett for Cobh on the half-hour. With thirteen to go, the impressive Rocks for Cobh managed to pull out a save from Graham who pushed a shot around the post for a corner. 2-0 for the Youths at half-time with the makeshift central defence of Maloney and Shanley looking very solid for the Youths.

Youths generally had been first to the ball during the first half and they continued this momentum during the second half to merit the win. On six minutes, Frahill picked up a yellow for a tackle on Danny which had a touch of last man about it. On the ten minute mark, Youths picked up the ball on the break and transferred it across the the penalty box to find Danny who buried it first-time past the advancing Hallaghan for 3-0 and likely game over. With twenty gone, Graham pushed a good Cobh effort around the post for a corner which then fell to a Cobh forward completely in the clear about eight out. However, he managed to stoop down and glance the header wide when it looked easier to at least get it on target. With twenty-five gone, Joey had a good solo break and shot but Hallaghan managed to scramble the effort away. With fifteen to go, three Youths had a go at dispossessing Rocks inside the box with the last fouling him and leading to a penalty which Deady blasted high centrally for 3-1 to Wexford.

With ten to go, Clarkey and Daryl came on for Daragh and Graham and on 86 minutes, Danny nearly got his hat-trick when the last defender managed to block his effort with Hallaghan beaten. A minute later, Cobh hit the bar with a nice drive from 25 out. In injury time, Caolan came on for Eric who limped off after trying to make a tackle for 3-1 to the Youths at full-time. Best for Wexford on a good night were Robert, Donal (who looked much more comfortable in defence than in midfield), Crokey who showed that he shouldn't have been rested, and Graham, Daragh and Danny up front. Cobh had an excellent player in Kynan Rocks who looks to be one to watch, but he couldn't carry the away side on his own. About 180 in attendance.
