Deserved win by the away side in Ferrycarrig tonight against the Youths who again never threatened to score for long periods. Youths started 4-5-1 with Graham, Clarkey, Gary, CJ, Jimmy, Eric, Crokey, Joey, Shane, Deano and with Tom up front. First half had relatively few chances but the Blues took two of them to set them up for a comfortable win. First chance of the game fell to Waterford on eight minutes when the Youths let a cross reach the far side of the box where Drohan hit it first-time off the bottom of the crossbar for 1-0. Next chance of the game occurred on 19 minutes and this time Drohan did well down the left and found Higgins in the box who was allowed to turn and smack it home for 2-0 to Waterford. Only half-chance of the the first 45 for the Youths was on 23 minutes when Tom was found inside the box but he couldn't connect on the turn. A minute later, Eric was fouled and had to limp off and was replaced by Brian Nolan who was back from Russia. Remainder of the half was uneventful with, on 35 minutes, Graham in the Youth's goal winning a tackle against an unrushing Blue's attacker, Frosty getting a yellow for a tackle and, with a minute to go in the half, Graham having a comfortable catch from a Blue's free-kick. 0-2 at half-time with Youths perhaps quicker round the pitch but much less effective.
