Have enough of those Oscar medals Mouldytoast! We'll leave it to the young fellas. Just there for the free gear, the sambos and the post game showers. Also i'm prone to the odd licking of the arse to reach my goals. Not this time though, he's a top coach

Right lads, when the Agm comes round for next year clubs should be voting for either the league cup to be scrapped in the premier or play the games on a thursday night in doora under the lights like they do in limerick when midweek games finish. With all this terrible weather its made it impossible for games to be played and the backlog is crazy. Games will probably not go ahead this weekend again

Avenue and Bridge both argued this last year and year before but on both nights the GAA clubs out voted the soccer clubs

    Foot.ie!

Well said mastermind1. With the lights now there should be no excuse not to follow suit like limk league do and run off divisional shields for premier and first division midweek. Plus it will give lads the chance to play there that they might not get otherwise

Change the season as per the League of Ireland schedule. October to January appears to be a writeoff off anyway.
There are arguments for and against but realistically is it being bourne out that a change is needed?
    I'll update this next year.

I know that bridge and avenue have been trying to get this happen for a while with a few more but other clubs should be looking for it aswell. I m sick of saying it but the gaa wont set their schedule up to suit the soccer clubs so why should we suit the gaa soccer clubs and punish other clubs for trying to better themselves(bridge last year and avenue this year).

    Well said mastermind

Worrying thing is that the clubs most vocal in their opposition to start league earlier and eradicate the league cup were premier clubs, Newmarket and Mountshannon.

I'm not trying to be awkward lads and have a lot of sympathy for Avenue but if you look at it 2 premier clubs are almost half way through their league programme , Turnpike have 10 games played in the 1st division and a couple of teams have 10 games played in the 2nd division .We have had some brutally wet winters in the last few years but the Clare league soccer season has nearly always been from sept to april since i have been involved [ and thats over 20 years], maybe it's worth a try but i don't think going head to head with the gaa would be a good idea.It might work out in the bigger population centres but you would surely lose a number of rural clubs.

That's why I suggested that we have too many clubs in clare

Who are the GAA clubs that have a vote at the Clare League AGM? Surely that can't be right.

Newmarket and Mountshannon voted to keep the league cup in place for 2013/14 season, after a debate the reason they gave was that they needed their GAA players to start the league and would be at a disadvantage if the league started earlier. Both delegates said that the dual players allegiance lay with the GAA. So to answer your question First I'm referring to the above named clubs as the GAA soccer clubs.

Not having being at a delegate meeting when a vote takes place, could you explain how the process works. There are 10 teams in the Premier, how did the other 6 vote assuming Avenue and the Bridge voted to scrap it?

So what you are saying is that the most decorated club in the history of the Clare League is a Gaa soccer club . Is this a new thing on the scene " GAA soccer clubs " again I scratch my head
