Donnelly never specified that he was open to selection by the FAI, as far as I know. Perhaps he has a hidden ambition to play for us, but he merely expressed that he didn't wish to be considered for selection by the IFA for the time being. The reports seem to indicate it was Doherty who got the brace, not O'Brien.
