You come across some arseholes but in general most players and managers are pretty respectful.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

What does the course involve - just an introduction to what a referee would be expected to do?

Yes it's a course on the laws of the game, after which you are qualified as a Grade 4 referee.
You will be assigned to a league in a region. You should also be assigned to a mentor who will watch your first few games.
Can we send some of the current LOI officials on this course?
can we send the players on this course? maybe then we wont have so many yellows for back chat
