    Cork AUL 2013/14 Divisions 1, 2 & 3

Hey lads, giving this a go. Some people are only interested in Premier and Premier A. Some of the oldest clubs in Cork play in the lower divisions. Also there are great players playing at that level, lets keep everybody updated by posting match reports, team news and general info!

Third divisions look as tough as they were last year with a few new additions.

This is a great idea. I hope it works, it only will if we all contribute. The 3rd division looks extremely competitive, each team in our section have to play each other 3 times. That's 21 games excluding cup games, could be a long season for teams that progress in the cups. On the promotion side I think it's a joke that if you finish second you don't get promoted. The reasoning behind it baffles me, apparently its to keep a limited amount of teams in the second division but I think by not promoting the runner's up from each 3rd division they are weakening the 2nd divisions.

Great stuff lads, I'll try to get reports on matches i attend. It'll be a busy season for myself with Castleview but I'll always have a soft spot for Knocknaheeny Celtic because my Dad helped found the club.

Good idea this! I'm interested in Premier but rarely get to see any games so a lot of the chat goes over my head.

Div 3 looking very competitive this time. Fancy a couple of sides from the lower leagues to have good cup runs like Leeview last time.

Ya Donaldinho, when i saw only 8 teams in our section I rang the AUL and they confirmed it's 3 times. The 3rd game will be randomised to see who is the home team. Unless more teams join the league then it's 3 games.

I think its a great idea to play each other 3 times. Even if you do get off to a bad start there is plenty of oppertunities to pull it back. On the downside as Leftside said, 2nd place teams should be promoted. They have extended the season to 21 games in the league so surely there has to be some reward for the 2nd place teams in the 3 sections. The play off round robin is just too much for the end of the season. There was not a whole lot between the teams this year in the play off and all 3 were more than capable of mixing it in the 2nd division.

    I do and don't agree.

I agree finishing second really should be enough to go up. And the play offs can be to much for teams at that level.

But they are good to be involved in....kind of mini cup finals!!!

Why dont they just split up all the league and go from prem to div 5 for example like the schoolboy sections that would easily sort out the promotion relegation issue

Spot on schoolboy. Far too many leagues. It's definitely something that should be looked at.

So after this season wed say bottom 3 in each div 3 would go to bottom div mid table 3 next div top two and a relegated div two side next div and so on something like that maybe

Makes sense. You'd have to change the cups then aswell though.
